didn't realize it was that big of a difference. I'd stick with the youngin too in that case.

But drafting Ayton and finding a way to acquire Lillard is a great way to go if we can make it happen.

Neither player has even turned 21 yet. The average NBA player hits his stride around 26, giving up on them now is shortsighted IMO. Dumping them thereby creating a void at Power Forward won't instantly make us better.

I think we have a better chance of developing one of them than we do of finding a power forward elsewhere. But if we come across a quality power forward, then perhaps it will be time to jettison one or both of them.
In that case, I would suggest choosing which one would be best as a backup Power Forward, trade the other . . . and pursue (rather than come across) a starting PF to complement Ayton.

I consider drafting Bender and Chriss together and not deciding on one to be given the clear chance the type of indecision and unprofessionalism that has plagued Suns leadership. It was a wishy-washy approach.

You just don't keep two young unproven players as your PF rotation.

I understand, but after eight seasons of missing the playoffs, I just think we need to be more proactive and less patient/hopeful. Especially when his drive/ambition is in question, reflecting inherent personality.
Is in question with people in this board. We have no idea how the suns view him. We have no idea what bender was instructed to do on the court. I, for one, don’t question his drive/ambition. I question the craptastic coaches we’ve had abilities to properly develop him. Oh, and he’s still just a baby.

Raising our level of expectation is all well and good. Being impatient gets you in trouble. Particularly with a young team.

With Ayton on the horizon, isn't this finally time for the Suns and their fans to rise above this losing mentality?

"He showed that once every three or four games, but it's something." is hardly the formula for success. And as Cheese and Phrazbit just said, Bender (has played like) a wimp.

C'mom, Stef. Chin up! Let's root for a new Suns era.

I do like Ayton, but my critique of Bender has nothing to do with Doncic. I'm not remotely worried about Doncic being a wimp. That kid has absolutely proven himself to play as physical and with as much competitive fire as anyone in this draft... or really any draft in recent memory.

That, to me, is one of the most impressive things about Doncic. He plays a strong, physical game, he will throw his body around and take some ugly shots that you don't see from guys as young as him.

CJ McCollum anyone? Having him next to Booker sharing ball handling duties in a motion offense would be killer.

McCollum
Booker
Jackson
Bender
Ayton

That would sure take care of our scoring problems. He puts up buckets and can hit the three.

Why McCollom over Lillard?
They’re the same age.

Is there reason to believe either McCollom or Lillard are available?

My guess it is speculation because Portland got knocked out of the playoffs in the first round.

Everybody is assuming the Blazers are gonna blow up their roster.

I would think there would be a pretty nasty backlash over there if they traded Lillard.

Who would they want for McCollum?
#16 enough? What are his contract demands?

Signed a max deal, has 3 years left at $27 million next year, $29 the following, and $31 million in the last. Not big on paying him about $90 million for the next 3 years.

Whoa. Why should we bail the Blazers out of that mistake. I am assuming you are answering the question of how much they owe McCollum.

I have 0 interest in McCollum, just mentioning his contract. It's really ugly. I wouldn't even trade Knight for him straight up, and the Blazers might consider that because of how much they'd save. Knight comes off the books 1 year before McCollum and makes half of what McCollum does annually. They're at the tax line right now and they'll need to pay tax to retain Nurkic.

The Blazers are in salary hell right now, that's why people think they'll blow it up. McCollum isn't their worst deal, not even close IMO. Meyers Leonard is making $31 million over the next 3 years, Mo Harkless making about $34 million over the next 3 years, and Evan Turner making $38 million over the next 2 years. They have Nurkic, Shabazz Napier, Ed Davis, Wade Baldwin, and Pat Coughnaton all as free agents. They can only afford to bring 1 back at around $10 million a year before they get into the luxury tax.

This is why it is important not to overpay average players to long term deals. The Trail Blazers do not have a lot of flexibility.

When you make trades with Danny Ainge... you lose.

I agree with this but I'd still like to kick the tires. #16 and the Bucks pick for Rozier? Then Ainge can try sabotaging the Bucks season to make that pick more valuable.

No, no, no... and a heeeell no. I guarantee that would get it done. I think Ainge would feint if given the chance to swap a PG who shoots 39% and doesn't distribute for 2 first round picks. I don't think I'd swap either one of those assets for him. IMO he is a backup. He's also due an extension.

I absolutely expect the Celtics to shop him around, they're great at selling high, and I expect whatever team trades for him and extends him to feel really stupid within a year... because basically everyone the Celtics have shipped away has looked a LOT worse once removed from Stevens coaching, and all things taken into account, Rozier hasn't even looked all that good anyway.

I know he's due an extension but I'd feel more comfortable paying him next summer if we had a year of seeing him with our team. He'll get a nice payday and it could be a big mistake. I'd rather get a test drive now and see if he's worth paying later.

Rozier had a nice little run but he went back to being what he's always been and always will be a solid back up who can show flashes.

No thanks
