I think he is a worse fit than Beal, by a lot.

Best fit is trading for Jimmy and NOT extending him.
Butler as a player is definitely the best short term fit of the 3 (Beal, Lavine, Butler) but it sounds like he wants Phoenix because he's sort of been promised the deal he wants. And if that's the case and we don't extend him, he will quickly become the worst fit by far from that group.

Well... he'd be gone. Getting free of all that money is a best case result.

LaVine and Beal both have been subject to trade/dump rumors for too long, it'd be benifitial for both teams just to swap them for a change of sceneries. Depending on how Vucevic gets traded, they can further swap fringe pieces like Williams for Nurk and JSmith for RO, etc. to improve roster.

Well I would agree if that was even an option, but it isn’t ishiba has already promised him an extension.

Which is further proof ishiba doesn’t know what he is doing.

Well I am looking at it more through the lens of the Suns are still screwed if they do nothing by keeping Beal. The bridge there is burnt.

I think of three bad options, Levine is the least bad.
I don't think he is a piece they would build around if Book is still on this team. Then he becomes a really costly backup if you gave up assets.

How is that any different from Beal?

At least with Lavine he isn’t going to be seething about being benched and disrespected.

I am all for moving Beal but he is redundant with Booker just like Lavine will be. I am not for giving up any assets for redundant players. We have other holes to fill.

I keep reading that but I don't buy it. He's not redundant, he's just never healthy. And yes, we have greater needs than to have a second quality shooting guard but that is not the same thing as being unnecessary. In an ideal world we'd have another good center, another good power forward and I'm all for trading Beal to get one or the other. But we are a better team when Beal is fully healthy and in rhythm. Which happens every month or two, and that's the real problem with BB.

The Bulls have spent a year trying to give LaVine away and have found no takers.

I don't know that Beal is going to be willing to waive his no trade clause for Chicago, their ownership is notoriously terrible.
I heard their coach used to coach Beal.

I don't know why anyone would think LaVine is better than Bradley Beal. Health wise he's missed more games over his career. To qualify for NBA awards you need at least 65 games played in the season and Lavine has done that just 4 times in 11 years. He's 29 now, Beal is 30. There isn't much of an age difference. Contracts aside, I'd take Beal over Lavne 10 out of 10 times. Health matters, sure, but LaVine doesn't solve that problem. Beal has shown more desire to win than LaVine also.

I see your point but IMO he is and that’s one of the reason it’s not worked out this year. Because all season we have been undersized because of that redundancy. We ranked last in paint play on both sides of the ball. You essentially have 3 guards on the court which means small ball and a ton of it. The team can at times put a ton of points on the board but we still can’t stop anybody consistently. There is a reason most teams are not playing with 3 guards like we do so often. Beal was moved to the bench for a reason. The rotation wasn’t working.

Now we have two SGs in Greyson and Beal coming off the bench. I don’t think we need both and I could buy the argument we should trade GA if not for the other guy being Mr. Glass.

I absolutely think LaVine would seethe if he was coming off the bench.

Watch the dude play. He plays slow, inefficient, ISO, he plays zero defense, he's a ball hog, he'd do nothing but take the ball out of the hands of guys who are far more efficient. He's also had a history of being really stupid late in games with the clock on with turnovers. Also of note... he hasn't won a playoff game in his career.

If he was on the team we'd be HOPING he rolled his ankle or strained his back.

I'd rather have Beal in street clothes than LaVine in a uniform.

I agree. I want nothing to do with LaVine. If his contract was a year shorter, I could be talked into it, but it's exactly the same length as Beal's.

:), you are harsh, but unfortunately for Lavine that is not far at all from an accurate scouting report.

I agree. This team would be better off without anyone replacing Beal. Jimmy might be a little help but could just as easily blow up--in a bad way.

I would prefer to just dump Beal for nothing if it were possible.

It’s not possible.
