So we won 49 games and clinched a playoff seed last year, with a weaker roster, and then blame our coach and hire the touted homeboy Bud. Only to play far worse and miss the play ins and be a 35 win team.

Bud made Nurk look so bad, we had to trade away Nurk for a bag of peanuts and then made Grayson look abysmal also killing his value. I know this is all primarily Jones GM work at fault, but Bud is a far far worse than advertised. We were at least a playoff level, competitive team that played defense under Vogel. What a crappy season and situation, guys.

I don't want to alarm you, but basically every single trade or signing they've made in the last 2 years has been abjectly terrible and extremely short sighted.

His handling of Nurk and Grayson really soured me on him. You had core guys from last year's team and you just give them no rhythm. If you look at what we traded (Ayton) to get them, it's even more frustrating.

This isn't an elite team, but if a decent to solid coach had them they'd be in the 45+ win range. This team should not be sitting where it is. 50% is also that we stepped down in coaching. Vogel had them playing some defense and used Grayson/Nurk well enough. Shame we blamed it all on him. We're paying 2 coaches to only end up worse with the new coach.

Bobster, you are being very kind. I do not understand giving less than 100% all the time.

They were not competitive last year. They got swept as a 6th seed.

The problems you mentioned don't all fall on Bud either, like blaming him for Grayson's regression. Grayson got paid and quit playing hard. He's played in about as many games as Beal has this year as well but no one even mentions him in game threads.

Last years roster wasn't really better either. Guys tried harder. Bud may be to blame but I think its more than that.

Which might as well be a 2nd rounder. It's 29th overall, maybe ends up 30th. Not exactly anything other teams covet. More teams seek early 2nd round picks because they don't have guaranteed salary attached.

first order of business - if james jones is gonna go he has to go first - before you talk to kd - before you talk to book or beal - before you talk to other teams - before you do anything you have to do this first

only thing worse than cleaning up someone's mess is not having the say so on how it's done - screw the coaches - forget about the big 3 - we need a true visionary with the balls to tell ish to sthu

someone who already knows who should stay and who should go - they're out there - they know who our next coach is - whether we want draft picks or a re-key or both - you can't start anywhere else

I haven't seen anyone talking about Bobby Marks saying if Beal agrees to a buyout, you could stretch the remaining contract and comply with the waive and stretch rules. Basically Beal agrees to a buyout and foregoes, two seasons worth of mid level exception to his contract, reducing his total by $20-25 million, and then he could sign with whoever he wants for the cost of a mid level exception to his new team, and still make the same money in total.

There's conjecture at that cheap of a price, even with missing time, contenders that need scoring could sign him using their mid level exception and get instant off the bench scoring. Plus he could have his choice of where to play.

Or he could stay here where he may not be wanted.

Of course Ishbia would have to eat that approximately $80 million-ish remainder of his contract.

Just interesting that there technically is an avenue to do this if desperate enough.

Which would mean that end of day this team will have given up 3 first round picks to move Nurk and Beal.

James Jones needs to be gone for sure.

I'm thinking the Suns are looking for a way to buyout Beal and stretch his contract.

I saw some math on it, but I can't find it at the moment. The Suns may be looking for a creative way to do it.
