PHOENIX, March 13 - The Phoenix Suns today activated center Jake Tsakalidis and placed guard Randy Brown on the injured list with a left calf strain. Tsakalidis will be in uniform for tonight’s home contest against Pacific Division leader Sacramento.
Tsakalidis was placed on the injured list on Jan. 2 and missed the last 34 games after he underwent microscopic surgery on his lower back. He also missed five games on the injured list with a bulging disk in his lumbar spine from Nov. 27 to Dec. 4.
The 7-2 center started 20 of his 23 games played this season and averaged 5.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and shot .458 from the field in 16.7 minutes. He scored a season-high 13 points against Indiana on Dec. 6 in his first game off the injured list and grabbed a season-best 11 rebounds against Denver on Nov. 23.
Brown did not play in five-straight games prior to the club’s game at Golden State on Tuesday night. The 6-2 guard made 32 appearances this season and averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 assists in 8.2 minutes of play.
Phoenix takes a 33-30 record into tonight’s nationally-televised game against Sacramento at 8 p.m. at America West Arena. The Suns then face a key contest at Houston on Sunday, March 16 at 6:30 p.m. before hosting Toronto the following day on Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m. at AWA.
