While two seasons ago(and even last season) you could have an open debate as to what had worth more between Denver Nuggets and Chicken McNuggets, the team seems headed in the right direction.
If they do sign Andre Miller and Corey Maggette(as has been speculated and if Clippers don't match), their team will appear to match up very similarly to the Suns. So, down the road, how will they compare?
Point Guard
Stephon Marbury vs. Andre Miller
Stephon is the obvious choice here. Miller could become very good still and a distributor is just what Denver needs, but Stephon is Stephon and that's that.
Shooting Guard
Joe Johnson vs. Corey Maggette
Remember, we're talking down the stretch here. I think both players fit their teams needs well. However, I would probably give a slight nod to Maggette, but both players have a lot of improving to do.
Small Forward
Shawn Marion vs. Carmello Anthony
Right now the clear cut winner is Shawn Marion. Anthony definantly has the potential to be a better player than Marion, but don't forget that Marion isn't done growing either. Edge to Marion, but if Melo starts balling, look out.
Power Forward
Amare Stoudemire vs. Nene Hilario
Nene is gonna be very good, but I'll take Amare here any day of the week. More agressive, more exciting and has shown much more so far on the court.
Center
To be announced vs. To be announced
Nene and Amare will both likely play some center throughout their careers, but I would like to think that the center on both teams for the future is at this point still not on the team.
Bench
Zarko, Barbosa, Voskuhl and company vs. Tskitishvilli, Harvey, Yarbough and company.
Almost impossible to say how these players will end up.
Maybe it's just the Suns fan in me, but I'd like to think that the boys in purple and orange will be the better team down the stretch. The big matchup here for years to come will be Amare vs. Nene.
