Come back with that statement in the 2010 season when our team is really old, has no cap space, and no draft pick.

Yeah. Seattle really bent us over on that deal. Why Sarver and Kerr were so hasty to shed salary before the season started is beyond me. The lux tax isn't calculated until the end of the year. Everyone knows that expiring contracts are coveted around the trading deadline. I guess we saved some cash on payroll for a few months. Yippee! That 2010 pick is going to kick us in the balls hard.

The window was already closing....Maybe you were watching Suns highlights from two years ago and didn't notice. From what I'm seeing the Suns gimmick was up and the competition is much more intense out west now. If there ever was a time to make a radical move it was this season.

Thats a pretty scary stat....

Hopefully Shaq will get more mobile and in tune with the team the longer it goes. If not, Marion wasnt taking us to the promised land so who cares.

i care. marion would be gone after this year and he was making less. we could have picked up one of many very nice free agents on the market this coming year.

Maybe the Suns dont want to wait any longer. They want to win it all now...not think about next years free agents who may or may not be better than rolling the dice with Shaq.

Remember when Joe Johnson would play 40 minutes and marion would play 40 minutes?

We were young.

I just wonder how good that team would be right now if we would have signed great roleplayers for the bench and kept at least some of the picks to develop a rookie or two.

You never know I guess, but I would say we could have built a killer team around that original core by just adding to it.

I'm not bitching about the Shaq trade. I support it. I'm bitching about trading away picks and KT for nothing. How does that help us now or later?

We have no chance to survive we should make our time.

Ha ha ha ha.

*Without the zerowing language: We aren't winning a title this year.

We arent making it out of the first round of the playoffs this year, if we even make it

With Yao out we will probably make it. Sadly though is the situation we are in:

Normally I would WANT to miss the playoffs at this point, to get a good draft pick along with the ATL pick. Problem is we traded our pick away.

Sad.

I apologize, I forgot we mortgaged our 1st round pick for next season

We traded away the Atlanta Pick? I thought it was a future first rounder...

You know we had a bad stretch last year too where it seemed like we were getting blown out by every good team.

It was right after the Dallas double overtime game in March. We were blown out by the Pistons, and then the next game by the Nuggets who led by 40 at one point. Then we were getting blown out by the Warriors, but the bench had pulled us back with the starters sitting out the whole 4th quarter. Then there was a really horrible game against the Spurs on TNT, and a lost to the Kings on ABC.

So it might not be the end of the world. We went through this same thing last year. (The problem is not just Shaq)

Suns will have to play stellar basketball to advance in this years playoffs. There is not much room for error. The Suns wont have a talent edge this time around.

If we have to bench Steve Nash to counter Jannero Pargo then our season is over. That's probably exactly what D'Antoni is thinking.

I know what you mean, but I am talking about playing him in a back up role. a lot of the points that Pargo got were when Barbosa was on him.

If D'antoni wants a guy who has the energy that Shawn Marion brought to the game, Strawberry is that guy. He is not as much of a threat offensively, but he still can bring that kind of energy off the bench. He has proven it before, yet, D'antoni would rather bring L. Johnson off the bench to guard a bigger guy.

Johnson played well, but it was not the bigger guys that were killing us so much as it was the smaller guys hitting their shots and the big guys getting garbage baskets when the shots weren't falling.

On a side note, I hate to say it but Nash and Diaw are killing this team the last few weeks with their turnovers. It is getting ridiculous, and the types of turnovers they are having are not a result of the offense. They are just stupid mistakes like dribbling in a clogged up area in the paint, dribbling off the foot, throwing the ball away, traveling (Diaw), etc.

The turnovers are killing the suns in a big way. The team had 18 turnovers tonight, 15 turnovers yesterday, 12 against Detroit, 24 against Boston. 69 in the last 4 games. Nash and Diaw have combined for 27 of those.....Not good!

Fans who care about the future of their team do.

well,i think if we dont get championship when Nash is playing it's gonna be even harder in the future without him,I'm not saying "we won't",definitely we will, but it willbe much harder than nowadays.

No I was saying:

We currently HAVE the ATL pick, we traded our own 2008 pick (suns pick) which would have been nice to have (along with that ATL pick, as I said) if we were to miss the playoffs and start the first phases of rebuilding.

I'm too lazy to check the shot chart but I'm guessing that 80% of the Hornets points came off jumpers. Pargo, Mo Pete, Peja, West, Paul were all on fire. I'd rather them lose to hot shooting instead of getting killed off second chance points in the paint. Another bad loss but I don't think its any indication of how this team will look at the start of the playoffs.

We have days 2 days off then get the 76ers, another 2 days off and then the Blazers and Nuggets back to back. They SHOULD be better after that stretch.

You'd think so but the SUNS have been rolling out all-star top notch PG's for 20 years & we're still searching for that elusive title.
Maybe that's not the right approach.

I just got back from the game to find this 24 page thread, so I doubt I could say anything that hasn't been said already, but...

We played with zero desire / drive / energy, whatever you want to call it. We weren't contesting shots, we weren't boxing out, only a couple guys were going after loose balls. It was kind of disappointing to watch live actually.

Combine that with the insane shooting nights of basically every Hornet player and you get a lopsided loss. Normally I wouldn't be to worried, but Detroit just did it to us. I'm starting to stress about it some. :(
