Gortat starting doesn't solve alot of those problems

No but sometimes we get off to soft starts with Lopez out there. We currently have the 6th worst starting lineup in the NBA efficiency wise. If we get off to more solid starts and give some larger cushions to the bench, I would should like to see what impact that has over the course of the game.

With the old lineup w/Dragic all starting Gortat would do is give the bench a bigger lead to give up. They were all passive as it was and adding another hesitant player would have made things worse. The starting lineup was fine, not great, but fine. Its not exactly like Lopez is in there for long periods of time when he's struggling.

Like I said earlier, since the trade for Brooks (an aggressive scorer) I wouldn't be quite as opposed to the move. It would be a gamble and I can understand Gentry's hesitancy to do the move since our rotations seem to be set and we're successful with things the way they are.

They don't have time to adjust to a new starter as the margin for error for this team is small enough as it is.

Meanwhile Gortat broke 1000 pts!

"all time stats" looks like:
1002 pts / 1016 rbs / 3146 min (15 mins / 4.9 rb / 4.9 pts)
but if we`ll talk about PHX stats it is :
27 mins / 11.4 pts / 8.2 rbs and 1 bs per match. 0.58 % PG , 0.74 % F,

Quite cool ;-)

Hi,

Let me join the Phoenix Suns sports fans. I'm from Poland, but have been supporting Suns since KJ, Chambers, Barkley and Majerle times. Now when Marcin Gortat plays for Suns my liking fo Suns became greater. It's easy to watch all the matches via internet so guess I can add something.
Despite my liking for Marcin I have to agree with Evil Ash. In my opinion when Marcin plays from the bench, he can do better job for Suns. He isn't ready to start lineup. It wolud be extremally different situation for smbdy, whe was dominated by Superman. Gentry should give him minutes, especially in key periods, it helps him to be constantly improved and eventually to take place in start lineup

Welcome aboard Zbigniew.

I think the whole thing about who starts is overblown anyway. I'm liking Gortat coming off the bench primarily because Lopez is a player well worth developing. Gortat has been a huge addition for the Suns.

Welcome to all of our new Polish friends! We'll try to do our best not to dip into the arsenal of Polish jokes! :D Always cool to add foreigners to the board.

... we're successful with things the way they are.
I really wouldn't call beating a team by one point in overtime at home, who came into the game with a record of 17-42, having lost 7 out of their last 9 games, successful.

Well, considering they had just added one of the best players in the league to their team and considering they were hungry to get a win for Deron Williams and considering they were playing at home and considering that we had played an OT game the day before, I'd certainly call it something other than a failure. It's not like we're the Spurs or Celtics, we're a barely above .500 team trying to find ourselves.

I would, considering it was on a back-to-back, with Deron Williams as a new addition to the opposing team.

Well then, we better hope that Channing hits a 3-pointer, after we blow a lead in the fourth quarter, every game.

That's too close for comfort, rooting for a team who is now above .500 and looking to make the playoffs as they head out on a road trip.

Especially with our history of playing down to our opponents over the years.

I'm not the only one who feels that way. How about the Coach, Alvin Gentry.

I know I'm supposed to be all happy that we won a road game but it's ridiculous. That was the worst basketball I've ever seen down the stretch. That was horrible. We're lucky as hell to win the game. We don't deserve to win the game to be honest with you.

That's not a playoff team, not if we're going to execute down the stretch like that. The only thing that saved us is Channing made a big shot for us.

Should be real fun against the Celtics tomorrow,:D it will probably go down to the wire again. I think we got their number right now, I sure would like to tweak the line up for that one.

First off, are you talking about "the game" or the way we closed the game? Gentry is talking about the way we closed the game and I don't think there's a person on the planet that thinks we did that well. We fell apart and we were lucky to win the game. Don't kid yourself though, luck is a huge part of sports. We didn't play great but there were mitigating circumstances and in the end, we pulled out a win. That's a success story.

We were on the 2nd game of a back to back ON THE ROAD with an exhausted steve nash & crew who played a bunch of minutes plus overtime in the last game.. The team had to travel from Indiana to New Jersey and get ready to play for the next game in less than 24 hours. That's hard.

A win is a win and a loss is a loss. Stop complaining.. We should have lost this game to new jersey, be happy we came out on top and everyone should stop complaining.

Now you guys complain about VC playing crunch time minutes.. Well for one, he's the most clutch player we have on the team.. Idk why we don't use him.. On top of that he only shot like once or twice in the 4th? Not a big deal.. Also another reason as to why he was in there is because he didn't play as many minutes in the previous game the night before so he was more rested and had more juice for the NJ game.
