Are you watching the games? If so, aren't you at least slightly excited that Amare Stoudemire and I mean THE Amare Stoudemire is getting pretty damn close to being back?

I don't really like this talk about Amare being "back." He's not the 2004-2005 Amare. He's a different player. He's a smarter, much more efficient player and his offensive game is much more dynamic than it used to be. He gets everything within the flow of the offense and he keeps putting up these ridiculous 12-14 shooting nights, with a good portion of those midrange jumpers. He's ridiculously talented. He's also a much better team player in my opinion, and has been running harder throughout the entire game, even if he's getting less touches at times.

an impressive win would be a win against any of the top 5 teams in the league...

this game, entertaining as it might have been...

doesnt mean much.

Of course it's only one win. Who cares? It was a great game of basketball to watch. I just can't understand how anyone can't be excited watching this team play, even if it's against a .500 team in the eastern conference. There is not a single shot the Suns took tonight I didn't think was going in.

Becuase there are people out there ready to throw sand on this team when they lose a game or two.

Instead of enjoying the game of basketball, it's turned into a chore for them to get excited anything this team does outside of beating SA or Dallas in the WCF.

It's obvious the acquisition of G. Hill was perfect for this mix. His defense and overall knowledge of the game is off the charts. Add a big man who can block shots/keep the defense honest (Skinner), and two young, talented rookies (Strawberry/Tucker)... and you have a pretty successful offseason.

Take time to smell the roses Suns fans.

What Dallas is going through ought to be enough warning to any fan not to take anything for granted, but to enjoy each win. We're watching a new team take form right before our eyes in these games, similar to last year, yes, but also different. 42 assists tonight on just 50 shots (Nash 19, Hill 8, LB 7, Bell 5 ast.). The fast break really has been a thing of beauty to watch. Those who were laughing at Hill's 3 aren't laughing anymore -- he's legimate, and even better when he drives.

Another observation: Is it just me, or does Amare's outside shot look better this year than ever before? His shooting form reminds me of Dirk Novitzki on the jumper, and it's really solid. If he starts pulling his man out the FT line, that's just going to open up layup lanes for Hill, LB and Nash.

The contrast to Marion is striking. Not to dog Shawn, but his shooting form has always looked painful, and I don't see much evidence that he's worked on it much over the years -- he just relies on sheer talent. But his stroke is not very repeatable over long stretches, which means that it sometimes abandons him for stretches.

Over the long run, it seems likely to me now that as Amare's leaping ability wanes, he'll probably be able to develop a fall-away jumper that will keep him dangerous for a long time to come.

to be fair, I don't think anyone's saying "who cares if they won", at least that's not my thoughts. I'm happy they're winning. I just can't get really excited about it at this point in the season with who they've played.

im glad you recognized that you were sunsfan #1. I do a good cheesebeef impression i guess. I'm just pointing out that this same discussion keeps happening. When we should really be talking about things such as this:

I was watching the Suns-Raptors game on league pass the other night with the raptors broadcast. There was a play in the 3rd quarter when Jamario Moon blocked the crap out of Marion and the Raptors announcer yelled, "Shawn Marion just got Mooned!!!!"

This is the type of Suns stuff that we should be discussing. I appologize for not bringing this up sooner.

I agree with you 100%.
I've only followed the Suns since the team acquired Nash, so I am a fairly new fan who's still very much enjoying the ride. I love this community coz it gives me insight to the game of basketball. I'm a girl, never played basketball, and don't really understand the sport the way many people here do. I just enjoy watching it and that's all I know. It is really helpful for me to log on here and read what people are saying 'coz it helps my understanding of the game a little bit.
But it has come to the point that it is just so frustrating to go here sometimes. I would be all excited about a Suns game I'm watching and people are being such wet blankets here. Is it just me or is anyone else feeling that sometimes those fan#1 types are policing the excitement out of this forum? I'm not targeting anyone in particular, but there's a lot of them around. It's almost automatic how they put the lid on when people start saying positive things about the team.
I agree with Bufalay the point has been argued so many times already and I think people have already picked a side between 'regular season/bad team wins are exciting' vs. 'regular season/bad team wins are not exciting'. Now it's time to talk about other things.

Oh, btw, I didn't see Diaw play 'coz I got the streming going kinda late. How was he tonight?

I will say this much, I am very happy to see the ball has started to move the way it should with this much offensive talent and Grant Hill has so far proved me wrong in his three-point shooting. I probably wasn't into this team early because we just didn't look like the Suns, it really looks like the firepower on this team could be truly breathtaking. I just don't know if it will be enough to beat SA (who won again tonight against Utah without Duncan which is incredibly impressive).

Amare had been practicing long range shots all off season, even three pointers. No wonder he is better at it.

amares jumpshot is amazing. he rarely misses it. and he is doing better staying out of foul trouble the past few games. his defense still leaves alot to be desired but that may just be something we have to live with. i would like to see him get better position for rebounds though. he should easily be getting 13-15 a game.

you know whats even more impressive? With about a minute left Bowen kicked Deron Williams and they actually called a foul. Things might be looking up for the Suns after all.

Unfortunately he got away with two blatant fouls with under a minute to go, but its still progress.

I caught the end of Spurs-Jazz game, and did see the Bowen play you described Bufalay, but they were letting them play on both ends during the little stretch I happened to watch, so at least there was some consistency in the awfulness.

I loved the commentary on the espn- video. "The Suns scored 122 points. That's an off-night for them...."

Thats just the nature of the beast anywhere you go. Veteran fans and posters will undoubtedly control the conversation, and most long time suns fans are simply jaded by the everlasting wait of that damn trophy.

Dont hesitate to ask questions or start your own threads with topics youre interested in though.

Diaw was invisble in the 1st half, but had a decent 2nd half. He got more aggressive and hit a couple of fade-away 10ft shots in the lane and a 3ptr. He still didn't have a great game and didn't attack the rim at all, but at least he did something somewhat positive in the 3rd qtr.

I was impressed with Andre Blatche. He was doing everything out there for Washington, making passes, hitting jumpshots, offensive rebounding (7) & putbacks.

Watched the game at work tonight. Even if you completely ignore who we were playing, our jumpshooting was spot on and teamwork was stupendous. Tons of assists, decent defense, good rebounding.

Watching Stat and Skinner swish 17 footers like it aint no thang makes me happy in the pants too.

I listened the first half and then checked the box score. It looks like Bell began to hit his three's in the second half after not shooting well in the first since he finished 6 of 11 for the game.

We have the same taste in players and he is only 21.

Next week will be the real test for this team. NO, Utah, Dallas, SA. I am curious to see where we measure up.
