OK, here's what I read in this forum:

1.Sarver meddles too much he needs to stay out of the day to day of the Suns.
2.How could Sarver sit by and watch McD ruin this franchise?

He meddles too much or not enough?
Yes! :)

By hiring inexperienced General Managers to be his errand boys and scapegoats. Sarver is the one who has ruined the franchise. Our last post-season appearance goes way back before McDonough.

Other GM's have reported that, while they were on the phone with McDonough, they heard Sarver barking commands at him. That is not only bad management, that's verbal abuse.

And now, with Jones next in line, it just continues. Jones has already proven in-house that he fits the role. How much more obvious could it be? Another errand boy. And in a few years, he'll be another scapegoat.

Funny, I just got on, and did not look at who posted, but as soon as I saw the word “inexperienced” I knew it was BC.

Didn’t even have to wait for errand boy etc.

Maybe vocabulary. Maybe see how long you can go without using the words "inexperienced" or "errand boy"? Just a thought.

Ryan is going to be on The Jump today. It's on ESPN2 right now and he'll be on after the commercial break. It will be on later today too on one or more of the ESPN networks. Maybe we'll get the Sarver scoop with both Amin and Ryan on set.

Just saw this. Hope they replay it. Saw the very end with McD talking about competing in the future. Did he say anything worthwhile?

Well, the interview didn't really go the way I thought it would. Amin was reserved, Ryan was well spoken and acknowledged making some mistakes with communication (to players). He mentioned a couple of times that he was grateful for the opportunity Sarver gave him and while he was surprised at the timing of the firing, he also pointed out that'd had 5 plus years to get things done - implying, I believe, that he understood why Robert let him go even if he didn't understand why it happened now.

All in all I thought it was a good interview for Ryan but I don't doubt that he had his future employer in mind when he made his supportive comments about Sarver.

It looks like it's on again on ESPNEWS at 3 PM (Pacific) today.

Speaking of making communication mistakes, he said Sarver fired him OVER THE PHONE! Yes, you heard that right. That is the number 1 mistake you can make when firing somebody by not doing it in person. That is unacceptable and shows that the organizations communication issues start at the very top. Quite ridiculous if you ask me after 5 and a half years of service.

McDonough said the right things during the interview as expected. Perhaps inadvertently he admitted he was fired on the telephone. This was not a classy way to do it.

The most immediate thing that jumped out at me during the interview is McDonough mentioned only two players who will be elite, Booker and Ayton. I would have liked to have heard Jackson's name.

He also mentioned the Suns are lined up nicely for the 2019 free agency.

Unfortuantely, just saying it doesn't make it true.

However, Jackson's name being conspicuously absent could say something about why McDonough is gone... or maybe not.

Could very well be a part of it. To compound it, he was bragging at the time that we got Jackson over Tatum. It's pretty obvious now that Fox, who was in consideration, should have been the pick at the time.

I think Fox might have been a better choice for the Suns but Markkanen and Mitchell would have been the best choices.

Credit the Jazz for identifying Mitchell and trading for him.

Jackson is barely a sophomore player at this point. I can't believe some are writing him off so quickly. Bender and Chriss were given more time than JJ. He'll be a good NBA player, over time. He may not be a star but he was the right pick at the time. He was selected as the player who would become the best player from the 2017 draft class in 5 years based on the GM survey last year. I wish he was playing better right now but he hasn't even hit 100 games in the league yet, he hasn't even been eligible to play in 100 games for that matter. It's too soon to say this is who he is.

Look how long it took Oladipo to break out. Some players take time, some don't, it's not uncommon for him to struggle a little.

He said Booker and Ayton were going to be elite players but when asked about the future he said something like Booker, Ayton and the other young guys. So I guess he was just lumping Jackson, Bridges and Okobo (maybe even Melton and ... Bender?) together which is reasonable as I wouldn't expect any of those 3 to reach the elite status we expect from Devin and Deandre.

Nobody was considering Mitchell for the 4th pick at the time. That's like saying we should have drafted Giannis instead of Len. Fox, on the other hand, was in the conversation.

I didn't even think he'd be anywhere close to the lottery.

I was giving the Jazz some credit because they traded Trey Lyles and the 24th pick for Mitchell. Trey Lyles was highly thought of, so this was a bold move. He was obviously on the Jazz radar. This was probably the earliest opportunity they could draft him. As I have said before, I liked Fox but I knew the Suns were not going to draft him as the draft neared.

I only heard Booker and Ayton referenced to being elite.
