I will say that he did have a few spectacular drives during the playoffs, but did that WAY too infrequently for a guy his size. What good is the size if you don't really use it?
Actually Tim Thomas did use his size.
He was a solid rebounder, made some polished post-up plays and even played some post-up defense.

He would have been a very good 6th man for a contender team like the Phoenix Suns even with Amare Stoudemire. And 21 mil./4 year is a solid contract for that caliber of player.

And Tim Thomas? You wanted a proven underacheiver for 4 more years, at nearly $6 mil per? If he doesn't hit the shot against LA in game 6, no one is talking about him now...

Nowhere have I posted that I wanted TT back at his asking price. I wanted him back, but for cheap so we could sign more pressing needs. What I am annoyed about is selling our draft picks. Marcus Williams probably would've been a low risk/high reward type of player to pick up.

I agree so far that the last two years the front office has done a good job, however what has killed us the last two years? Injuries/depth. The Suns need more depth, as it stands right now this team is only 8 players deep. Thats fine for the playoffs, but for the regular season I'd like to see 10 quality players getting minutes.

George, "Eddie's problem was that he's not a good "stop and pop" shooter"

Where do you get your ideas from? First it was his defense and now this. Eddie's a very good stop and pop shooter. You should have watched some the early games - Eddie was pulling up and popping great on the break, often from 3 pt range.

I'd be perfectly willing to concede that Eddie shot better when Nash was on the floor but what does that prove - so did everyone else on the team.

From my observation I'd say that what outside thing that affected Eddie's shooting was how tightly he was guarded. Its true for almost all players but it seemed to me that Eddie was bothered more than most players. And once he started getting some press the opponents paid a lot more attention to him. He became the no. 1 target to pick up on the break, whenever he came into the game. There went those wide open stop and pops he'd been getting.

Nice post, Errnktnght, its all there. Eddie is an excellent catch and shoot player, but quicker, taller defenders can really bother his shot. In the playoffs, he was very rarely open. Almost every shot he took was heavily contested.

ArizonaSportsFan, did you really watch the playoffs?? OK, find another MLE level player who had a better playoffs than TT. Good luck, I dont think you will find one. You also wont find one who was expected to guard Elton Brand, Kris Kaman, Dirk Nowitski, Lamar Odom, etc. Find another MLE level player who scored 16ppg on 49% shooting in the playoffs. Rip Hamilton and Billups, all stars, shot 42% from the field. Find an MLE level performer who always plays better in the playoffs. Good luck, you wont find one. You need to add some objectivity to your assessments that ""TT is not worth 6mil(actually 5.25 mil the suns discount). Just becuase the suns apparently cant afford him due to other overpriced players, doesnt mean he's not worth 6 mil. Just because he got a max contract 5 years ago and played like a good MLE player doesnt mean he's not worth the MLE now.

Every one except game 7 against the Lakers (date night).

The MLE is just a pay level. There are plenty of players who make more and are worse than TT (Dampier, for example) or make less and are better (Josh Howard, Diaw). The fact that he signed for the MLE means nothing other than that the Suns didn't want him for that price.

Wait, you said be objective but you just inferred (based on your subjectivity) that you would rather have TT than Rip. Because TT shows up in the playoffs. Really?

And so you are saying that now that he is an MLE player he won't play like a MDE player? Now that he has his last good-sized contract? Are you guaranteeing that? The Suns didn't see it that way, apparently.
