Seems it seems like we talked ALOT about the T-Mac trade the last 24 hrs

I thought it would be a nice change of pace talking about something else

I found this from phxsuns.net......
---------------------------
Tribnet

Meanwhile, it appears less and less likely that guard Brent Barry will return to the team, according to multiple sources.

The Sonics are hesitant to give Barry more than a three-year contract, and Barry's agent, Arn Tellem, has been told by several teams that they would be willing to give Barry the fourth year when free agency opens July 1.

Some of the teams reportedly interested in Barry are the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns and both Los Angeles teams.

-----------------------------
I would be willing to sign Barry (especially if the T-Mac deal does go through).

He can play both the 1-2 and add an outside shooting prescence when Amare
is double teamed

True I totally forgot about Brent Barry.

He would be a VERY nice replacement for JJ while TMac would replace Marion. Heck Barry can play PG as well for stretches.

I think Barry is a very good player. I thought I had heard that he was a difficult teammate from a personality standpoint, but other people on this board said they hadn't heard anything about that. So I'd be all for going after him.

And actually he put up some amazing games as a PG for Seattle.

I live in Denver and the word up here where Jon resides is that the Barry Brothers would love to play together, I think that both the Suns and the Clippers could accomodate both. It is probably a package deal that I would not have a problem with, Jon is instant energy off the bench.

I think Jon Barry sucks. Just my opinion. Brent is good, though.

It might be worth it to sign Jon for the min. if it gets us a good deal with Brent. It depends on who comes and goes in trades. I'd rather give a spot to Jon Barry than some undrafted rookie.

You have got to have some body on the bench that likes to come off the bench. He has proven this with Detroit two years ago and Denver last year. He knows his role.

I've been pushing for Barry since at least November. He is not a flashy player like Nash, but he plays much better defense and can flat out shoot. He is 6'6" and has experience at both guard positions, so he could be PG with JJ and SG with Barbosa. Playing him with JJ would create major matchup problems for opposing defenses.

If I was trying to sell Brent on coming to Phoenix, the first thing I would do is show him tapes of how often teams use the zone against the Suns and dare them to shoot long jumpers. For a guy who averages 45% for three pointers, I think that would be a heck of a selling point.

It'd be even more lethal of a combination if TMac replaces JJ in that scenario. In fact, if Zarko is to come back to his early form and confident shooting, with Amare/TMac drawing all the attention and great shooters in Barry and Zarko parked in the wings, this Suns' offense might just be unstoppable, not even by Pistons.

Barry plays defense and Nash doesn't. End of story. :p

Right now most rumors are that Barry wants a four year deal beginning in the MLE range. He has been mentioned by the papers in every city that has ONLY the MLE to offer. At this point Denver is the only team with cap space that sounds interested.

As I said before, the great thing about Barry is that he plays both SG and PG. Nash is trictly PG.

Until this week no one had linked Barry to the Suns, but there have been several mentions locally which suggests that the Suns have figured out that Nash will be either too expensive, unavailable (traded to LA), or even that he can't play defense.

I like Barry. He is a flexible player, good defender, excellent shooter, has experience (something that this team really needs) and to the best of my knowledge he is a good guy.

Excellent role player!

If we don't trade Marion or JJ we don't need Barry and Barry probably won't come here to be a bench player anyway.

I really like Brent Barry as a player. He can really shoot and can also play the PG and SG positions.

I remember the year Brent Barry was drafted, I had no doubt in my mind he was the player the Suns wanted to draft if they had the chance. I remember cringing when he was selected before the Suns picked.

Anyone remember who the Suns selected that year? I'm sure someone knows where to look it up.

Barry starts at PG. That would give the Suns two guys of 6'6" or more in the backcourt which would be great on defense and cause serious matchup problems for opponents. Just thnk - "No more zones".

Barry can't handle a PG defensively and neither can JJ for long stretches really without getting exhausted on the defensive end.

Brent Barry is worth having as long as his skills don't decline. He's one of those extremely rare birds--a perimeter player who plays a very efficient game, single-handedly improving his team's offensive efficiency and spacing when he's on the court.

The best-case scenario for Casey Jacobsen IMO is that he turns out to be another Brent Barry, but he's got a ways to improve yet before the comparison makes much sense.

Firstly, I think Barry is a heck of a player.

Secondly, he has trouble staying healthy.

Thirdly, some of you don't want Nash because he's injury-prone or getting "old". The same argument can be made against Barry.

BUT, Barry plays defense and Nash will get a much bigger offer from Mark Cuban. Nash will get a contract starting at about $7 million - maybe more. Cuban has more money than God and is so far above the cap that a few million won't make any difference to him. Nash is reasonably happy in Dallas and there is no disputes. Somehow I can't see Nash having a house in Phoenix being the deciding factor.

Hey, just think of it. We can go back to the Suns good ole' days with an all-white guard rotation of Steve Nash, Brent Barry, Jon Barry, and Casey Jacobsen.

Then we can sign Chris Mimms and have a team of white stars Larry Bird would be proud of.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

btw everyone is talking that nash is getting old and is injury prone? yes he is 30 but for the past couple years he has played in 78 this year, 82 the year before, 82 the year before that, and 70 during the 00-01. so repost of bring injury prone is a little over blown.
