The Phoenix Suns have surfaced as serious contenders to sign Boston Celtics free agent Ray Allen, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Allen, 37, is willing to explore offers beyond Boston. The Suns – regardless of whether they re-sign free-agent point guard Steve Nash – interest Allen, sources said.

Phoenix Suns are also planning to coax Bob Cousy out of retirement to play the point. The future is NOW.

It's fun reading the news and seeing big players like Lebron, Melo, and Dwight moving around to teams that want to win and knowing your team is also looking for superstars, just 6 to 7 years past their prime and on their last legs.

The time to get him would been around the time he went to Boston. I was clamoring for it. Now? I don't know. If he was being added to this team to make another run....OK.

Why now? He is going to pump in some 3's on a .500 team or worse. How does that help the Suns? IMO if Ray Allen comes here it's to pad his stats before hanging it up. The Suns have no shot at a title and he has to know that.

What's fun about it if one is a Suns fan?

Because Nash is staying. If this is true its because they believe they are keeping him.

Man, if we could just get Barkley and MJ out of retirement, and maybe Hakeem, we could put together an awesome team!

If Nash is staying....we are still a .500 team or worse. As I revised my post above, this has to be about padding his own stats before he retires. He can't be delusional enough to think this team can win a title eve if we retain Nash.

What I am really saying is why bother when it really won't make a difference except improve our team 3 Point percentage.

reagrdless of whether Nash stays or not? wtf? can this really be true?

look, if they somehow get Nash/Allen/KG... fine. whatever. Maybe our staff and their ability to work miracles can get that team to be a 50 win club with a lineup of:

Nash
Allen
Dudley
Garnett
Gortat

but really? and with or without nash they're interested? that's ludicrous.

Allen is probably trying to increase his market value.

might as well get Tmac, allen Iverson, Oden,...maybe that'll entice bRoy too.
anyone old or with a past history of injuries is welcomed to this team.

No wonder Ray Allen is interested in us, look what miracles we've done for older players. Say what you will about Grant Hill, but the guy plays like he's 10 years younger (at least until he got injured at the end of this season). Michael Redd, Shaq... we have a very good track record. Best training staff in the league and I don't think there are any arguments against that.

I'm just hoping if the Suns sign the aged and infirmed, they are only signed to one year contracts with perhaps a team option for a second year so the Suns can keep their CAP space.

i'd rather keep redd, he can back down or get to the rim a little easier than allen can at this point in time. allen still has hops compared to Redd post-injuries though.

Time to bring in a Roy or Oden now so we can actually get more than 2 years out of our super staff.

Doesn't make alot of sense. But it does make some sense. We need more 3 point shooters. Granted I'm sure all of us would rather have a younger option, but I wouldn't mind seeing him here. If somehow we keep Nash, it makes decent sense as Nash would give him some wide open looks and Ray Allen is usually money on those.

If/When we don't keep Nash, again we still need a 3 point shooter.

I'm not saying this would be a good move, but as a 3 point shooter, we could use that.

Of course if/when Nash leaves, it might be enough 3's to keep us away from a good lottery pick and better chances for #1-3.

No we don't... we still have the tallest 3 point shooter in the league in Frye! ;)

This is so disappointing. Allen was the #1 player I wanted to add to the Suns about 6 years ago. Imagine him in place of any of our Richardsons.
