If Antoni won't fix the defense, then all the scoring in the world won't help this team. All it will do is take time away from our best defender.

Okay. Understood. Agree.

I love Dantoni's style, I just don't understand why it has to come at a cost to our interrior defense. I can't help but wonder if losing Ivaroni isnt a big part of why this team isnt improving in that area.

I guess the only way to find out the problem is to get a coach that actually gives a crap about defense and rebounding.

Agree, but that won't happen soon, sarver loves what dantoni brings (fun and gun), the fans have come to expect that style, it will be stuck with us for the next 20 years. No way sarver blows this out now.

I guess sit doesn't matter, like Cheese said, this franchise will be The Kings in two years.

I only hope that Sarver's buddy, Steve Kerr, can convince him that we aren't doing jack right now. Hopefully Sarver decides not to waste number 13's career.

I beg to differ, I think he is out of position in defense all the time, he puts in effort but it is effort running around trying to stop the point gaurd or top of the key player and running at shooters etc...Which is rediculous.

When he is inside he is always being pushed inwards, that to me is lack of coaching.

I'd be willing to bet that another coach besides the Dantoni brothers would do wonders with Amare on defense.

He make such a big circle rotating to the PGs on p&r, it's comical. Also, he lacks the instinct to immediately grab an opponent when he loses his first assignment or after the shot goes up. Injecting good defensive instinks is what we need the coaches to do with Amare. But his help defense has improved greatly over earlier.

Also, I think this current staff is really weak, is there anyone on this staff right now outside of Mike D'Anotni that would hold an NBA job if they got fired right now? I don't know I am really asking.

- PHX's problem isn't lack of talent. I see a team without a "soul", a team that lacks the will to dominate.

PHX had a lot to prove over the last 2-3 years, and treated every game like it was Game 7 of the WCF. However, that fire is gone. Whatever the reason for it's demise, they better find a solution to this quickly.

- At no time in any type of game should Barbosa be playing the PG position. He scores like a 2, shoots like a 2, slashes like a 2, dribbles like a 2, and passes like a 2. Period.

In essence, PHX has NO backup PG. Name me one other elite team with this problem.

- Steve Nash is being exposed more so than ever on the defensive side of the ball. Teams are going right at him. This is putting a lot fo pressure on the help side D.

- Dollar Bob Sarver needs to back off and let Steve Kerr get his feet wet in making a move w/o restrictions.

- Amare needs a Charles Barkley to light a fire under his ass. Amare's defensive/rebounding positioning and his propensity to float on offense is shockingly bad. My concern is what can be done to rectify this? Is it something that can corrected? Is Amare concerned? What are the coaches thinking?

- Despite all the doom and glom, this team is STILL good enough to win the Pacific going away (if Nash stays healthy). That's a top 3 seed... and I like our chances anytime Nash is on the floor. However, their margin of error is shrinking... unless some guys pull their head out of their ass (including Mike D.)

amare's D really sucked. he needs to watch some tape of Bell.

he needs to deny position. dont allow Bynam/whoever-else to establish position sooo low in the block.

that just leads to easy points and the stupid fouls amare picks up.

at this point its more mental for amare. gotta have some smarts.

and overall for the team. i think they really miss a pure shooter(ie Q, e house). there spacing on the floor sucks. we have an inconsistant Barbs from the 3pt line, and we have some off/on shooters(if we could call them that) like Diaw, Marion, Hill from the 3pt line/long-range.
nash & bell are right where they need to be, overall in the game.

oh! 1 other thing. FT's hurt us tonight. if they were made, the game would have been REALLY tight in the end. i think that was the x-factor tonight, among other major problems.

Disapointing loss thats for sure we better pickup our defense because if we keep playing defense like this in this in the playoffs we will not make it very far.

Half time D'Antoni interview:
TV girl: "Coach, how do you stop Lakers scoring at will...?"
D'Antoni: "Well, you know there was 2 min where we did not score... we need to score more..."
TV girl: "Umm... Ok, thanks"
