No, they weren't. Kwame out (best big defender on the team and a big difference maker on the outcome of games). VladRad still out (outside shooting much needed). Lamar's shoulder isn't even close to 100% and he's having surgery in the offseason.

Injuries are no excuse, but you can't go running around saying the Lakers were healthy when they were missing their starting center and the guy who is basically the sixth man, with the number two option still dinged up and playing about 80%.

Boohooo cry someone else a river about injuries but not Suns fans.

It does not appear that the Lakers will get any of their injured players back for the playoffs, so this seems likely to be the roster whey will be starting. It has some talent, but they will have to play a much more inspired brand of ball if they are going to make noise in the playoffs.

let us all remember that the suns came back from being down 3-1 against the lakers last year without amare, and nobody complained then so it would be unfair for a lakers fan to say that they lost due to injury

Brown and Odom I'll give you, but Radmanovic is terrible. The Lakers are better off without him.

Donald wasn't complaining about injuries, just correcting a factual error.

We have no chance guys. The Lakers have 1,000,000 championships, and three of the best players in the NBA.

Sounds like excuses.

It's called correcting a mistake. Someone said they just beat a healthy Laker team, when they did not. The team isn't healthy, so that statement was false.

Get a spine, slinslin.

VladRad has some brain issues and his hand needs surgery (has all year) so I'm holding judgment on the guy until next season. His shot has looked terrible and he's braindead sometimes.

And thank you e for clarifying my point.

Kwame will be back, and Vlad will play Thursday.

But even then they have to play more inspired on the defensive end especially.

Let us all remember that

1) Amare didn't play last year anyway (which is why I didn't add Mihm's season long injury--depth at C would be nice).

2) I seem to recall a TON of people pulling the Amare card when the Lakers were up 3-1.

3) The Lakers didn't lose due to injury...and nobody said that. A Suns fan said specifically they were happy because the Suns just beat a healthy Lakers team and that just isn't true. Health was brought up by a Suns fan, not a Lakers fan.

4) The Lakers got beat because the Suns hit huge shots every time they needed one..every run the Lakers made was answered with a monster three. The Lakers didn't do as good of a job slowing the Suns tempo as they have in the past, and the Suns were incredibly and uncharacteristically agressive.

I seem to remember a timeout call the refs didn't acknowledge...

The playoff series with the the Lakers went longer than it should have, but the Suns were still the better team. It was not a fluke that the Suns came back from 1-3. It was a fluke that the Lakers won 3 games. :p

The difference between playoff teams is not that great. Someone gets hot and someone goes cold... But over a seven game series, the best team on the floor wins.

Didn't read the thread so not sure if this was brought up at all but what did people think of the Raja and Kobe actions during the game?

For those that missed it, there were several shots that the camera caught of Raja and Kobe joking with each other and generally getting along.

Must say it caught me by surprise a bit.

They are friendly now. Apparantly. Kobe is a snake in the grass though, so I assume that it is to lull Raja in a bit...he knows Raja gets up to play him so by being jovial and jokey with him it takes a tiny bit of fire away...he isn't playing with pure hate anymore. Kobe's a devious mamba.

I thought it was kind of cool. Just goes to show what pros they are. What I found more interesting is the "switch" they both had. In once instance you could see them talking and laughing with each other...then the ball was thrown in...both faces went blank and it was all business again.

Yeah, that was pretty cool. I expect in a year or so Kobe will call Raja one of the best defenders in the league...he does with Bowen nowdays...has a ton of respect for him.

No need to wait a year. Kobe already thinks Raja is one of the best.

"Raja plays hard. I think he’s a good defensive player"

“I’ll put him up there (among defenders) because not too many people want to play defense these days, you know what I mean?” Bryant said.
