I hope Kerr can get a coach in place before they start looking more closely at potential draft picks.

I agree, although the workouts are generally not as important as they seem. Most teams know a lot about the players by this point. Some admit they can get into trouble paying too much attention to a workout and not enough at what the guy has done in his career.

Meanwhile, Phoenix also began looking at draft prospects Wednesday with visits from Syracuse swingman Donte Greene and Louisiana State forward Anthony Randolph. Greene could come into play at the Suns' 15th pick but Randolph surely will be gone by then, showing that Phoenix has an eye on moving up in the draft, if possible.
The Suns will have more workouts Friday, Sunday and Thursday with a new rule allowing them to bring in as many as six at a time. Friday's workout is scheduled to include Texas point guard D.J. Augustin while Sunday's group is slated to feature the likes of Florida power forward Marreese Spreights and Stanford center Robin Lopez.

I think it's PR. They want to know what the lottery types look like because if history is a guide, there is going to be someone who will fall. But admitting they think someone will fall is not very politic.

June 5, 2008Similar to last year, where the Houston Rockets organized a massive two-day, 36 player workout attended by 12 teams in Orlando, this year the Phoenix Suns’ Dave Griffin and the LA Clippers’ Neil Olshey are putting together a two-day, 24 player workout intended to showcase players in the 10-40 slots of the draft.

Ten teams are reportedly already on board, including the Warriors, Kings, Nuggets, Clippers, Trailblazers, Supersonics, Grizzlies, Bulls, Bobcats and Suns. The workout will be conducted in Golden State on the 13th and 14th. Some of the players we heard that will attend include Brandon Rush, Courtney Lee, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Bill Walker, Gary Forbes, J.R. Giddens, Trent Plaisted, and others.

We’re hearing about multi-team workouts that are being organized later on that week by Houston and Portland as well.

Plaisted,is a mid second round type and is the only big listed. The rest are mid sized: Rush and Douglas Roberts are second half first round players while Walker Forbes and Giddens are all slotted to early second round prospects. Walker is reported to be in much better shape than during the season could rate a serious second round sleeper.
