Ah.Looks like it's not going to be for out-of-state fans...
Then I’m confused. If games are free, what does the service give people? Or is this just pure luxury for those that can afford?

Gotta be more about portability. Does Arizona's Family have a streaming app of their own?Ah.

No clue.Gotta be more about portability. Does Arizona's Family have a streaming app of their own?
I'm hoping to watch the Suns games live on local television channels and national network channels.
However, there is a pay service called Arizona Live. It's explained at Arizona Family. It's $14.99 per month or $109.99 per year.

Phoenix Suns launch Suns Live streaming subscription
As part of the team's partnership with Arizona's Family, Kiswe will offer fans more ways to watch Suns games than ever before.www.azfamily.com
Here are the game options for the preseason game at the Pistons on Sunday listed at Suns.com under scheduling.
TV: Suns Live, NBA TV, AZ Family
3TV / AZ Family Sports
Network 44
Radio: ESPN 620 / S: KSUN
Glad you'll be able to get them. I know you aren't in Phoenix and had questions about it. I watched the Media Day on AZ Family Sports channel and it was crystal clear all throughout. Hope you've tested out your antenna, if you'll need one. Saw they're replaying the media day this afternoon. Not much for programming on that sports channel right now.
I still have DirecTV which previously carried Bally Sports for a fee. I already dropped Bally Sports.
However, what I'm counting on, I have the local television channels from Phoenix which should hopefully include the Suns. I watched Media Day on Arizona Family.
An outdoor antenna likely wouldn't help me if it came to that. I'd have to do the Arizona Live.
It's only free if you use an antennae. That's why they were giving them away.Ah.

Gotcha. It's only free if you use an antennae. That's why they were giving them away.
Otherwise you need some kind of cable to pick up channel 3 - or for the 12-15 games that aren't on 3 you need that Arizona sports channel thing which most cable services don't provide. I am going to either hook up an antenna for those or just stream those few games off the internet through the non sanctioned free streams. I watched every game that way 2 years ago, and it's a hassle but doable. It's enough of a hassle I bought Bally's last year, but for 15 games I'm not going to pay for this service.
So with that said, I think the streaming service is meant mainly for people who don't live in range of picking up the channels by antenna or don't have cable and don't want to use an antennae.
It will cover the majority of games, Dec 2nd is the first game not on channel 3.I still have DirecTV which previously carried Bally Sports for a fee. I already dropped Bally Sports.

There are a couple ways you can DVR OTA broadcasts.I am wondering if I need to get a VCR to tape the Suns games off the antennae?

What part of the state are you in?
I'm hearing zip codes in Albuquerque and Blythe are eligible for Suns Live. I imagine other border towns like Needles could also. Getting in larger market ABQ with a high profile roster could be a boon for the team in terms of growing the fan base.
I'm in Northern Arizona, but I checked out digital antennas awhile back and they wouldn't work in my area.
My understanding is the Suns games that air on channel 44.1 will also simulcast on 3.5 which is the AZ Family Weather Channel. 3.5 has a stronger signal than 44.1. Tell your Mesa fans to check 3.5.Digital antennas are hit or miss. I'm in Tempe so I don't have an issue but I've heard some in Mesa can't get AZ Family Sports with an antenna.
I will. Yes the blackout rules are doo doo.Hear that @Ronin you should look into it. I believe you've said you were blocked out of League Pass games in the past, occasionally.
Thank you. I've looked into this in the past and it didn't seem so simple at the time. Will try again. It won't help me for DirecTV as I like to watch via Satellite on the big screen but it would be nice in a pinch to be able to watch on my laptop wherever I am.I keep tellin you guys!
For most of you 'out of towners' a simple VPN will solve your problems. If you have something like DirectTV, YoutubeTV, Hulu (I think), Fubo... all you need is a VPN that costs a few bucks a month, select a Phoenix IP address through the VPN and you will get Phoenix channels and Phoenix black out rules.
I might be wrong on directTV though, you can't VPN a satellite, but if you use their web app option it would probably work.
VPNs can be annoying to setup on a TV, but anyone who watches on a computer, tablet or has connectivity to their TV with a PC/tablet, it is a really easy setup.
Also, it's legal. No laws against using a VPN in the US. If you plan on vacationing in Russia, China, Iran... you probably want to turn your VPN off.

There's probably a way to cast it too.I have a 17" laptop so it wouldn't be too bad.
Also, if you have an extra television, there is a way to attach a cable from the laptop, so it can be viewed that way.
