Even MY dreams are more exciting than that.

Hanging Pacific Division banners and *almost* winning it a couple of times? Or was it the dream about Jariah again?

Banner hanging....how exciting. NO.

And I only dream about Ryan...get it straight.

Okay, I've dreamt about all of you.

But not THAT way.

He's not from LA.

You are not from Phoenix.

What's your point?

I made PHX my home and accepted every team here as mine because I love PHX or AZ in general.. He lives in AZ and from what I can gather, was either born here or raised here.. Yet he choses to support a team not within the AZ borders..

He's no better than a cowboys or raiders fan in football when it comes to home town loyalty in my eyes..

i'd imagine abomb feels embarassed when he throws his championship rings up there and then some yankee fan comes along and throws their rings up. different sport, but champions nonetheless. sorry, these aren't your daddy's lakers anymore. no shaq+keeping kobe=no championships. Kobe never wins another title again.

Why would I care what the Yankee fans do...they won those championships and have a right to be proud of their team.

I don't hate them or their team because they are good...I just don't really care for the Yankees.

There were a lot of people in the 80s who said Jordan would never win a championship. Crap never changes. Hate on, playa...hate on.

That's your decision. You have no hometown loyalty...you should be a Packer fan and stuck with them. You have new-town loyalty. You changed teams because you moved and it was a crappy life back there...but what if you had to move now...say to Boston. You gonna become a Celtic and Patriot fan? I think not.

I'm not loyal to the Lakers because they are in LA...they could move back to Minneapolis and I'd still be a fan of them; I am a fan of the franchise, not the city. I have memories of Magic and Worthy, not memories of Pico or Hollywood Boulevard. Los Angeles is nice and all, but I don't want to live there....I love it here in Phoenix, but Phoenix isn't a package deal. I'm 33 years old and I don't care what street I grew up on or what part of town someone in my neighborhood is from or any of that BS that mattered a bit when I was younger. I take pride in myself and my family, not in my city. That's just a place I live.

I prefer to make my own choices in teams I follow, and not let geography dictate my decisions. And if were forced to move to Seattle, I'd be ok with it because I could still cheer for both the Lakers and the Cardinals, only then there'd be two groups of people saying I'm stupid for not following the Seahawks and Sonics. I can deal with that. I like to diversify my portfolio.

I live in PHX ya punk! This is my home.. This is my city.. I will never betray this city..

I might not have been born here, but I have made this city my own..

My mother moved me out here to get away from my abusive pops..

My mother was a diehard Packer fan as is the rest of my family.. But once AZ got the Cards my mom stopped being a Packer fan.. Why? Cuz this team represents our city.. And as my mother used to say,, your a punk if if ainyt got home town pride.. So mr laker fan your a punk..

It all just seems strange to me that your punk ass cant grasp that..

I didn't really feel like posting here until I read this. I-like most people in Phoenix-was not born there. I was born in Hagerstown,MD and raised there until I was 15, the reason I'm a Suns/D'backs/Cards fan (not a Coyotes fan because I'm not big into Hockey) is because Arizona is just better than the rude people back east. People in Phoenix were nicer than people in Baltimore could ever hope to be, people love to hate on Phx but I just loved it there.

Now, I do feel a soft spot for the Orioles and Redskins (hell, I still wear some of my Redskins gear) but come gameday it's all Cards and D'backs.
I say, get rid of this "Ya gotta root for the hometeam" I say, root for whoever you want to root for, just don't be a bandwagon jumper.

Now that that has been said, *prepares to be flamed*

That's your opinion on hometown pride, Gee. And I understand why you like the Suns being they are the hometown Arizona team, and I respect it. But I don't think it is necessary, sorry. There are several Suns fans out there that hate the Cardinals and talk a gang of crap about them, but I don't see you getting upset about them. They aren't hometown heroes, and I think that's even worse that they only like the winning teams and talk crap about the loser local franchise, than someone who doesn't like one of the winning local franchises but loves the losing one. Why don't you have more of a problem with that?

The only local team I don't cheer for is the Suns, because I have a long life of great memories with the Lakers. I like the Dbacks best in baseball and the Coyotes in hockey (though I follow the former barely and the latter hardly ever). I just don't like the Suns and I don't believe that geographical location should embolden me to a franchise that I don't really care very much about, especially when I have followed a different franchise since I was a kid (because of my Dad who grew up in Long Beach and the family I still have there).

I have hometown pride, and I love Phoenix...there are very few places I'd rather live and those others are Cancun and Cancun, and maybe Tokyo. But I don't think hometown pride requires me to cheer for the Suns based on geographical location.

You shouldn't be flamed for that...it's a great position to take. And one I agree with completely.

I know this was posed as rhetorical, but I'd actually be interested in hearing your answer to it. What if you had to leave Phoenix and move to Boston for the rest of your life? Would you drop the Suns and Cards and pick up the Celtic and Patriot banners with hometown pride, or would you get league pass and Sunday Ticket to get all the Suns and Cards games all year?

I think you can inherit a team, regardless of where you live, from your pops and it makes it perfectly acceptable to root for that team for the rest of your life. Switching, however, is almost never allowed, unless you have a very good reason. That switch should only be allowed once. Now if you picked up the Lakers because you wanted to root for a winner, as I'v seen and known many to do with the yankees, cowboys and lakers, then that's lame.

"Your daddy's Lakers"? The Lakers won the title five years ago.

Regardless, if the Lakers never win another title (unlikely) I will still be a fan of the purple and gold until I die.
