This isn't hard. Suns would be one of the only teams increasing payroll during a pandemic. They would take on a huge financial burden, use the #10 on a backup PG. Use the MLE on a PF but likely a swing type and start Cam.

It better not just be Rubio and Oubre. We need to ship some dead weight like Ty Jerome, Okobo, Frank or Leque out - hell all of them. None are worth their contracts and we need cap space if we do this.

We can cut Okobo and Frank without it taking a penny of our cap space.

At his advanced age and mileage, though, his body is right around the corner from breaking down. Not unlike the Suns signing Tyson Chandler or the Cardinals signing Emmitt Smith, only all those signings cost is cap space.

Those comparisons are bad. Here’s why:
1. Tyson was never as good as Paul was in Paul’s 2019 season.
2. When Tyson joined the Suns he was far from his peak. Emmitt was a shell of himself before he came to the Cardinals. Paul made the AS team last year.

He played 62/64 of the first 64 games? There was about 40 days until the end of the season before the break?

riggt. And the knock is he’s always hurt down the stretch and falters in the playoffs. This year, he had a 40 day hiatus so his body was fresh for the play in and playoffs.

If you can’t acknowledge that and stand by your Hopkins comparison, there’s no reason to continue the convo with you either. Hyperbole or lack of facts destroy conversation.

Question: in what sport is an injury more likely?

Question: do otherwise healthy players routinely get sidelined with serious injuries in fluky ways more in NFL or NBA?

Question: what guys has a long history of injury and is 35

All season long Rubio has been on limited minutes and they worried about his playing time. Chris Paul is actually more sturdy than Rubio. Taking on the salary of Paul I think we should get a pick from the Thunder.

If they start Cam, they will be outrebounded by 20 per game and basically give up a lay-up line to the hoop on defense. Cam can't start. Period.

The deal is Oubre / Rubio for Paul. Suns keep their pick this year

Not sure about a future but taking on that salary is a lot.

I didn't believe it because it would mean Sarver is spending his ass off when all business sense says not to do it.

It is a great way to sell tickets to a new arena

HUH? You mean the arena that is going to be mostly empty due to covid?

If he is doing this, to me it means he is worried about Booker wanting out.

And your ignoring all the other years he’s missed significant time. You can’t just pretend like those years didn’t happen for a guy going into what his 16-17 season something like that

that’s a lot of miles on him and if he gets hurt your handcuffed

Booker has played 188 games the last 3 seasons. Paul has played 186.

And the Suns constantly had to play from behind as a result. Cam can contribute off the bench, but that is clearly his ceiling.

You are never going to give up on your Cam hatred are you?

He is fine playing power forward against at least 25 of the 30 teams in the league.

you mean when Booker missed 30 plus games... yeah it’s not like we were openly tanking or anything.

but forget actually having common sense or anything

Take a closer at his performance in the bubble, and especially before the bubble, and get back to me on that...

Nope.

rubio + oubre gets it done and would be a no brainer trade steal of the century type move.

No brainer? For OKC yes. Paul is a 35 year old player that has been breaking down for years. Yes he's coming off a pretty good season where he was actually available but this guy missed more than 20 games a season for each of the 3 years prior. No thanks.

If we simply don't want Oubre, just give him away but don't take on a ridiculous contract like Paul's. Might as well just wave goodbye to Booker when that experiment fails and given that Paul clashes with almost every star teammate he's ever played next to, it's almost assured.

Chris Paul moves a line by more points as a percentage of the spread than Hopkins does. It’s just a fact. Sorry if that hurts your feelings I guess.

the “knock” is that he falters in the playoffs? hang on now I want you to actually read this next part:

Paul’s regular season #s:
18.5/9.5/4.5 on 58.2 TS%

Paul’s playoff #s:
21/8.3/5.2 on 58.1 TS%

hmmmmmmmm

1Sun you are living in the same archiac thinking that had us draft an unmotivated big man over a MVP.

It's so wrong I won't even debate it.

Only if we find a way to get an NBA quality power forward. Otherwise we are Portland at best.

man this guy really likes his power forwards

hey, guy, who plays power forward when AD plays the 5 for LA and LBJ runs the point (their best line-up)????

(It’s Kuzma!)

They might need them to fill out the roster if they trade for Paul, as all of their cap space would be gone.

Right. G-leaguers are better than Okobo, Leque, and Ty Jerome though - and cheaper.

Frank should never play either, just give more minutes to our 10th pick, who now will be a PF/C or wing if this deal goes down.
