I was watching the Suns training camp video today which hosted Adrian Wojnarowski. He sees the Suns as a 50 game winner and a playoff team. It was interesting to see Gerald Green get a lot of focus and love today. He apparently was tearing it up today with shooting and dunks. This is a player the Suns need to keep going forward.

There is no player on the roster that I feel more sure about not being here in 2015/16 than Gerald Green.

Are you thinking it will be a money issue, his being used as a trade asset or a player like TJ Warren taking his spot? I'd hate to lose Green because he is an explosive player and shooter. Also he fits the Suns.

I think its a combination of all the above. If he plays well this year he will be pricey to resign, we have several guys locked into 4 year deals at Green's position, he is a defensive liability and given his roller coaster career I'd be nervous about handing him a multi-year deal.

I hope you're wrong. If you could bottle good Green I could care less about his poor defense. Maybe I'm wrong but it seemed to me that we almost always won when Green went off. Some guys seem to rack up the stats without impacting the outcome of the game. But when Green shifted into high gear, we were almost always unstoppable (JMO, not researched).

Thank you. For a moment there I almost had something to look forward to.

Steve

If anything you should be apologizing. As you know, it's against the rules to be positive.

Learn from your mistake and move on.

When Green was on, he was lighting in a bottle. I'd hate to see him leave because for periods of time his offense carried the team. Now that Green has found a home, it would be a sad to see him leave for both Green and the Suns. He is an immense talent.

Every good team could use an "instant offense" player on the bench. If they can resist the temptation to then make them part of the regular rotation.

With the Suns going to a 2 Point Guard rotation and a logjam at Small Forward, it would seem ideal for Green.

But I seem to remember him providing good offense last season only when he was a starter, then disappearing when he was inserted in the lineup sporadically.

Do you guys remember any differently? Was he able to come in at a moment's notice and light up the scoreboard?

I remember it slightly differently. He really struggled for a few games each time he was taken out of the starters role and used off the bench. He'd adjust after a while but he was very subdued and ineffective initially. But he had some great games once he readjusted.

His stats off the bench and as a starter, at least in terms of percentages, are pretty similar. Shot .5% better overall, and 4% better from 3 when off the bench. I recall the inconsistency too but I think thats just the way of life with volume shooters rather than him struggling with his role.

Also, I think Thomas is pegged as the "instant offense off the bench", but I'm sure Green will chip in there too.

My assuming Green won't be here is not because I dislike what he brings to the team, he was a good player for us last year, but looking at the realities of the roster I don't see room for him. If he stays I think it will have to be predicated by a trade that clears up the log-jam we now have at the wings. There are too many pigs for the tits.

Our 2nd unit will run circles around pretty much any other team's second unit. Sure, we won't be the greatest defensive group, but when you look at other 2nd units around the league, does that really matter all that much? We will be the classic example of just score more points than the other guys.

The teams that we will struggle with are young talented teams with first units that can play long minutes.

What's your reasoning? And are you talking about a Minnesota type of team or just specifically the good teams that also fit your description (Pelicans?). I haven't given it much thought but my initial thought is that we'd be more susceptible to a balanced, mature squad (Memphis).

Always a good plan. :)

Squads like the Spurs will have to play their bench more. Teams like OKC can play longer minutes with their starters. Anyway, that's my prediction. We will see how it pans out.

Our bench should be able to outscored the bench players of other teams, as long as they are matched up against the other team's bench players (or really tired starters).

I am so glad that we are playing this style with a deep team. The frustrating thing about the DAntoni teams was how he just killed our seven man rotation physically. By the time we got to the playoffs, Steve Nash was really beat up.

But we could even see that last year with Goran during the time that Eric was injured. He was just wearing himself out. Horny's concept seems sound. I am looking forward to watching it.

Hmm. If you're going to use OKC as an example I'm not sure it's going to lend support for your position. Unless you're also saying we are one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the NBA, losing to OKC is just as likely to be explained away by a talent advantage rather than an example of a young team that can play long minutes.

I certainly understand living together. They're brothers, they like one another's company, they can certainly afford a large enough house to give each other plenty of space. They are single. But having a common bank account seems a bit strange. I guarantee you none of my kids would want to have a common bank account with any of their siblings.

Who knows, maybe they have someone to manage all their bills etc, so maybe its more like a business than personal account.

we forget also, that at age 25, they're basically still just kids growing into full fledged adult hood. at least, I know when I was 25, I wasn't close to being an adult yet.

Looks like Green is daring to whip something out and Bledsoe is laughing it off and the Morris is being shy about it.

When someone responds to another post, I tend to ignore the quote and just read the poster's text. And it's posts like yours that makes this approach worthwhile. :)
