Anyone know the Suns record when Barbosa starts?
I'm believe it's a pretty good record. 7-2 last time i saw.
Sure, Nash and Barbosa are bad on the defensive side, but I don't think it would be brutal enough for the makeup they'd have on offense right from the get-go. Diaw and Barbosa have enough talent to be starting elsewhere on a lot of other teams around the league. They're young and can handle more minutes than they average now. Now take a look at the 2nd unit, much more defensive-minded, with two consistent offensive minded scorers with enough athleticism on the defensive side as well. If there's foul trouble in Amare, Amundson is good for 10 minutes, this guy hustles, give him a chance.
In the end I think this will never happen only because Porter wants it his way and though it seems to be more bad rather than good at the moment I think this half-court tryout should pick up along the way. You should never start judging a team until at least 20 games into the season, I'd give even more games in Phoenix's case. Nash is struggling because the team is struggling. I don't think it's the other way around, it's not all or most of Nash's fault. The philosophy has changed and you can't say they've had months to correct it when it's only been 9 legitimate practices (real games). You shouldn't include training camp and preseason (amare and barbosa out) as a reason for "they've had plenty of time."
