OK. Did anybody hear me talking to Gambo & Ash? I even made the "Kaiser Souise" reference regarding the luxury tax.

They said that there will absolutely be a luxury tax this season. They also said that a large part of the savings from trading Tom Gugliotta will come from the luxury tax distribution and escrow or something like that. I guess they got all of the information from the Phoenix Suns. They were saying that is however unlikely that there will be a luxury tax next season.

No Tax next year that means we will get Kobe, Okour(sp) and trade for TMac, and rule the world.

Why didn't you offer your masturbation analogy?

And that's exactly the point that was making on the radio. That was also the point of my "masturbation/Kaiser Souise" post a few hours ago. Three years we have been hearing that there is going to be a luxury tax. The Phoenix Suns have made at least a couple moves now to avoid it. Yet the luxury tax has never actually happened.

They assured me that according to the people they had spoken to there will absolutely be a luxury tax this season. If there isn't I swear I'm going to roll my wheelchair loaded with TNT into the Phoenix Suns from office. :)

I'll push.

With all the arguements we have, Joe, maybe we'll just do that anyway! :D

Just think: the Suns missed out on a golden opportunity. They could have traded Amare Stoudemire to Cleveland for Bimbo Coles and Bruno Sundov, both of whom have expiring contracts. Then the Suns would have more cap room this summer, and Cleveland would be quite likely to make the playoffs, giving Phoenix an additional pick.

Then they could have used that pick to move Eisley to Charlotte, and then they could have signed Elden Campbell to a four-year deal for $38 million.

Problem solved! Why didn't they think of that?

LOL :D

Does anyone here know how much Trade Exemption will be? There has to be atleast something positive - read awhile back about Rockets having $5 million exemption and how much in demand it was.

I haven't read one word about a trade exemption. Where is everyone getting this information?

I read Slinslin's and Elindholm's posts. I don't understand how Trade Exemption works but I'm hoping being Suns didn't get amount of capspace back in return via trade - ($5-6 million or whatever it comes out to) that Exemption will be that much????

Suns' trade exception - which they got in the Clark-trade - is the difference between Googs' and Clark's salaries or, 6.7 mil.

This trade exception is totally useless since the Suns have to renounce it before they use their cap room this summer else it does count against our cap.

But they could have used it in the very brief period of time between the completion of the Jazz deal and the trade deadline.

If a trade with more teams involved would have been on the table why would have they made it in two separate moves?

Uh ... hang on ... it will come to me ...

No reason. I was just saying it was possible.

This is not true. It could prove very useful in deals around draft time--especially since it is after the lux tax threshold is figured and before renouncing free agents.

A 6.7 million exception could prove VERY valuable--valuable enough to garner a 1st round pick.

1. So Suns could sign a Free Agent up to $6-8 Million (capspace).

2. Trade for a player up to $6.7 million with Trade Exception.

3. Package players with Trade Exception (example) =

Jahidi White
Howard Eisley
Casey Jacobsen
Future 1st Round Cleveland Pick
Future 2nd Round Cleveland Pick
Trade Exception

for

Zydrunas Ilgauskas
DeSagana Diop

Z would be free agent at end of year and keep Diop. Then explore next years Free Agency.

Can this happen, hcsilla?

I don't think Cleveland would do that.

That's theoretically possible but it would take almost entirely Suns' cap room this summer.

Either 1. or 2. Both together are not possible.

That can.

Eisley, White, Jacobsen for Z, Diop for the exception so it does work under the cap. However I don't see why Cleveland would do ot unless Suns include their own 1st rounder.

It took me a few minutes to come up with trade and only considered Cavs (being that we own 2 of their picks) - just wanted to know if it gives Suns another option.

I don't see why the Suns want to spend a lot of their FA money on a soft, not-defense playing, bad athlete often injured, rather old maximum paid center.

Let alone trade picks also.
