Backup QB's do not make the league minimum. How much is McCown making?

Many QBs do though however. McCow was in the league for 4 years before he finally started making over a million dollars. Also you cant compare what a back-up QB makes as compared to one that played int he 1980's.

Just assuming this guy is rich is plain silly. By your stats he never started a full season.

Your assumign he isnt tich which is sillier?

Id have to guess as well, without doing major research he started 3 years but possibly injuries prevented quite a bit? Dont know dont care.

Im sure he got backup pay. While your right about the 80's being a bit different we arent talking the 60's.

So who is sillier? Me assuming he is rich or you assuming he isnt? Id be willing to bet he is.

Im not assuming he isnt. Show me where I assumed he isnt? Im just saying to assume he is would be silly considering the career he had and his probable pay scale based on it.

There have been many an NFL stars who made a whole lot more than him and are now broke.

Interesting tidbit below.

We wont get into how real estate made a fortune the last 3 years ;)

"Gary Hogeboom (1980-1985) is a real estate developer in Grand Rapids, Michigan." - Brian D. Sweany, Texas Monthly
1985-1985 - Cowboys quarterback, which got him attention:
"Gary Hogeboom: Hogeboom was the opening day starter in 1984. To date, Gary Hogeboom and Steve Pelleur are the only QBs to have just one opening day start. Hogeboom got the nod over Danny White because of pressure on the Cowboys to shake the NFC Championship game losses. Hogeboom had taken over for an injured Danny White during the 1983 NFC Championship game and played well enough to warrant more opportunities. He led the Cowboys to a victory on opening day in 1984 and had a very nice game. Hogeboom was injured before the 1984 season was over and Danny White once again took the reigns. Danny White played much better than Hogeboom during the 1984 season and won his starting job back. To avoid even more controversy, Hogeboom was traded to the Colts after the 1985 season." - CowboyCards.com

Wow, we actually started cheering when Stephanie and Bobby Jon walked out...the perfect people to choose to come back.

And Steph helps win her first immunity challenge...good for her!

Great first episode...the guys all dehydrated was pretty insane.

Mike

Lucy pegged it before the show started, I think she heard it somewhere but she's denying it.

I bet they're rethinking that first challenge though, 11 mile hike in that environement without adequate water and electrolytes is not challenging, it's a serious health risk.

When his eyes rolled back in his head I'm sure the Survivor people were thinking this is great Tv, but I sure hope they realize now you can't take average people and put them in such grueling situations.

after 11 years????

11 years as a 3rd string QB would still mean he made 11+ million.

He started quite a few years. Id bet he made over 15 mil in his career.

Thats more than 1 or 2 bad investments.

not when he played though, 1980-89, salaries were a lot lower then. 3rd stringers don't make a million a year now at QB typically, they sure didn't then. He started 2 years I'm sure he made more in the last 2-3 years of his career than in the first 5-6.

Isn't he the ex Card QB that's quite the golfer? He's probably made some money on that or is that another ex Card?

So here's my peeve from the first show. Did you notice who the old guy Jim voted for? he tears his bicep, the nurse lady helps him out, and he goes to tribal council and writes her name down?

The only thing we could think was maybe he couldn't remember other names, but after 3 days I gotta believe he knew more names than her. Admittedly he knew he was going but of all the people to write down he picks the one who was nursing him the last day?

He should have done the honorable thing and eliminated himself - walking away.

If his bicep was really torn, he would not have been able to do anything, and him not doing that pissed me off.

And when he voted for her, i was even more shocked.

Show premiers September 15th

The place where the show was filmed is called "Yaxhá". It is a beautiful place in the middle of Peten's Rainforest. There is a lot of wild life in the area, and of course, a lot of mayan pyramids.

Hope you get to watch it!!!

Where is that in relation to Tikal? I lived in Antigua for a few months, and made a trip up there once. From the video footage, I thought it was being filmed at Tikal.

Wish they had played the comments he made when voting for her, unless he didn't say anything...

Kind of uneventful episode except I think that one guy who has shortness of breath in camp but then goes crazy in challenges is faking.

Funny as hell to see Hogeboom get outed and then deny it. He has no future in the game.

To bad Morgan got booted she was kind of cute. But I love watching people get broadsided.

I am looking for that guy Jamie to get booted next. Guys with girls names are easy to pick off.

Yeah, Hogeboom is going to get in trouble when they merge if the sportscaster is still there...she knows, and she'll tell everyone that he's lying about it...

How does a young women sportscaster know who he is?

I mean he hasnt played in a looooong time. Plus who just recognises faces from long ago like that?

She must be good...maybe watched a lot of sports with her father...I mean, I didn't have to watch a lot of sports to recognize Joe Namath...

Of course, Hogeboom is a bit more obscure obviously...who knows...but she does know somehow.

I'm figuring someone on the show told her because I had the same thought she's too young to know who he is. If she worked in a city he played in like Dallas or ARizona it'd make more sense.

I'm thinking either that spiky plant that got him has some sort of sick or he might have asthma. There's a thing called exercise induced asthma that's common and most people don't know they have it because unless they're serious athletes they don't push themselves hard enough to show it. Elden Campbell the NBA player has it.

I'm just glad they didn't take Stephenie out early and I agree Jamie looks to be next since he was trying to get Steph.

Most likely the producers told her because it would be a good storyline, and she could pass it off as knowing because she's a sports radio person. I don't buy it one bit, and I don't trust "reality" shows.

My thoughts exactly. On top of that the guy she told said she had said Gary was a Linebacker. Seems like a typical female mis-statement on football. I bet the person who told her had to tell her again...Quarterback!

I agree that someone had to tell here. I had no clue who he was. I still don't.

I think he was wrong when he said she called him a linebacker.

During the tug-of-war you could hear her clearly yell "You can beat him, he was a Quarterback and you are built like a linebacker."

I heard it and then replayed on my Tivo and it was clear as a bell.

yep we heard that as well.

I'm amazed that one doofus relaxed with like 5 seconds left and the lead letting the doorman steal the last flag, that was just dumb.

It's about a half an hour drive to the west from Tikal. They closed Yaxha during the recording of the show. They couldn't close Tikal for that long. They are showing a lot of shots of Tikal, but the competition was held in Yaxha.

How long ago did you lived in Antigua?

P.S. If ANYONE ever comes to Guatemala, let me know!!!!!!
