Survivor Episodes for Just $1.99
Source: CBS
February 1, 2006

CBS today announced it will make its highly-rated reality series "Survivor" available for download on CBS.com after its Thursday, Feb. 2 premiere (shortly after 12:00 midnight, EST/9:00 PM PT).

"This is a first in network television," said Leslie Moonves, President and CEO, CBS Corporation. "Never before has primetime hit programming been available for a fee on a wholly-owned website. It's been our strategy to exploit content across as many platforms as possible, and putting this hugely popular series online is a natural fit. This is not only a boon to fans of the show, who can now watch it at their leisure, but it also represents a great way to generate traffic for CBS.com while opening a whole new revenue stream for CBS."

Visitors to CBS.com will be able to view full episodes of "Survivor" for $1.99. The reality series will be available shortly after midnight following its west coast broadcast on CBS. Customers will be able to view paid-for episodes anytime up to 24 hours from the time they are ordered. The episodes will be available through June 2006.

Survivor: Panama -- Exile Island, hosted by Jeff Probst, will find the 16 new castaways initially divided into four tribes of four -- Older Men vs. Older Woman vs. Younger Men vs. Younger Women (the four tribes will become two during a schoolyard pick in the second episode). During the duration of Survivor: Panama -- Exile Island, at least one castaway each episode will be banished to a separate island miles away from camp. While being separated from the tribe is not desirable, the castaways will learn that there is a hidden Immunity Idol somewhere on Exile Island. If found, this Immunity Idol could save an individual from being voted out at a future Tribal Council.

So anybody else amazed at the first person voted off?

Don't want to spoil it for those who may not have seen yet but I was quite surprised the losing team voted off its strongest member over someone who was not only weak, but ridiculously weak ("I'm afraid of leaves?").

I can't wait to see smoker boy flip out...

3 PACKS A DAY???

I also read he drinks around 10-15 cups of coffee a day too.

He'll never make it.

Yes.

So what happens if they continue to lose every week?? Would their entire team be gone before the tribes merge??

Actually, looking at next week's teaser....it looks like Survivor has already thought of this.

I missed Thursday night's premiere so I used CBS' VOD for $1.99. The quality was very good (not HD though) and I'm now caught up for next week's ep.

Interesting wrinkle with the four tribes. I think the older men should roll after they bounce Smoker Shane. Also, I think I am in love with Sally. ;)

Yeah. Won't be long til he ticks the other tribe members off.

Was really surprised to see the person who got voted off go. I would have kept her around.

Just goes to show you that you really have to fit in.

I'm just glad we are back to two tribes with names, four tribes was too hard to keep track of (I haven't even picked a favorite player yet) and it grated on my nerves hearing them called the older men, older woman, younger men, younger women.

Good challenges this week. I like the last dude standing goes to Exile Island but gains immunity twist. But still in the line up we have psycho smoker and the woman who is afraid of leaves. . . . .

You're not kidding. That one tribe is d-u-n done. Also, I think Hawaiian dude is going to find the idol. I still love Misty and Sally.

That smoker guy is a walking timebomb. I think he's going to be the next Survivor to voluntarily quit, like that black guy did the one year.

2/16/2006 Episode

Strange week on the island, fire dancer Courtney had trouble with the fire? La Mina actually loses a challenge, and Shane called other players "lunatic" and "neurotic." and promptly reclaims the title with the "Shane Thinking Seat" rant. Yep that seat is really going to get a lot of use. Poor Bruce barely gets to know his tribe before once again being “exiled”, but given the juvenile arguments at Casaya, he is probably better off.

That immunity challenge was insane; body slams, bone crunching, and lots and lots of blurred-out bits. Somehow Austin found himself in a power position during the plotting and scheming, he might be one to watch. He's the one who pushed to exile Bruce to hurt Casaya, though I don’t really agree that it did, and he also suggested that Misty lost the challenge for them. Dan comforted both Misty and Ruth Marie at Tribal Council, such a nice guy, that spaceman.

In the end it was the idol-less Misty (sorry guys) who took the walk of shame. Guess Austin didn't factor in the back rubs. And because it can't be said enough: Shut up Shane.

This dude is great. I love watching him. He really looks like he is about to lose his mind at any minute.

2/23/2006 - Includes spoilers if you haven't watched yet.

OK no real shock that Terry managed to find the immunity idol, he’s a shrewd player. It must've hurt La Mina to lose both challenges while tribe "Casargue" won. Casaya, I have to say I am enjoying your bickering. Both challenges this week seemed uninspired. I wish we could have seen more of the maneuvering both with the large puzzle pieces and the bucket brigade.

Casaya wins the towels, three "bahs" of soap and "Casa de Charmin,” but I had to laugh at Bobby's talk of a "deuce", we barely hear a word out of him, and that was the first conversation we are privy to? Somehow Casaya managed to come together when it counted, at the challenges, it was a surprise to see Shane and Courtney work so well together, considering their history.

Almost as quickly as La Mina wasted away, they were looking rough, does anyone else wonder why if these people are STARVING why they spend so much time talking about it rather than looking for food? The he-man alliance probably made the right call in booting Ruth Marie because Sally did an amazing job in the challenge.

OK over at steady but predictable La Mina we have, Sally looking cute and capable, and some young dudes spewing vomit. Nothing we haven't seen a thousand times on Survivor but the antics at Casaya continued to reach a whole new level of insanity. Casaya you may have run out of wine, but you will never, ever have a shortage of whine. I have to say, Tribe Crazy is making this season quite entertaining.

Bobby may have a great future as a sushi chef — did you see him during the reward challenge? But the he tripped himself up falling victim to the old Survivor trap of too much booze. Bruce and his Zen garden?, Classic. Cirie is the only one playing it smart, avoiding the drama and letting everyone else have it out, once her fear of leaves was forgotten she has truly been fly under the radar girl.

And boy did the drama play out at Tribal Council. You could tell Jeff was gleeful just watching this tribe eat each other up. The votes were all over the place. What was up with Shane voting for Aras when he seems to hate Courtney the most? I can't figure him out; all I know is somebody better hide the machete from him before the next full moon.

We decided that vote was because he didn't want to take sides on who to vote off so he cast a vote that he knew wouldn't matter. If you remember he said something like "This vote is a throwaway" when he cast the vote.

Cirie is awesome! I thought she was annoying at first, but she has really impressed me with her resiliency and adaptability.

Angel, your reviews are great!

Anyone see the 3 pack a day smoker with a cig in his mouth while they were at the BBQ?

:biglaugh::biglaugh:

He was like a kid on Christmas morning. I was so happy for him, he's by far my favorite player.

What can we do to convince CBS to slip Danielle a razor?? When she was carrying that puzzle piece over her head.......those armpits made me gag real bad. Real bad.

They showed Shane bargain for the one cigarette and then later when he was dancing you could see he had another one, so I guess we now have no idea how many cigarettes the guy gave him. To me you're taking cigarettes from a guy who apparently is quite poor living in a village like that in Panama, seems a bit low, but I don't smoke.

I liked how dan handled getting voted off, he made it clear, without complaining, he was disappointed in Terry for changing his mind and voting for him. That surprised me too. Terry could have given the immuity idol to Dan but they would have probably switched to Terry and then it was a 2-2 tiebreaker so I guess he figured better him than me risk it.

Thanks ;) Survivor is one of my guilty pleasures…..

From last night...Harmony certainly has no place on Survivor. While the La Mina men's club, plus Sally, enjoyed their mutual admiration society, Casaya bickers through the night. Of course the happy tribe was thrown a curve while the crazy tribe enjoys a feast. But only one challenge? We was robbed, first Lost is a rerun and now this? It wasn’t even a particularly challenging challenge.

Shane finally gets his cig; does he even realize he has to start the “cold turkey” all over again? But I was glad that he didn't have to trade all his clothes to get it. A lunatic in shorts is bad enough — a naked one is unacceptable. I loved Cirie, egging on the girls against Shane and grinning as the bulls-eye moved further and further from her back. Never from those first few episodes would I have thought she would be such a great player not to mention one of my favorites.

Great heated moment; Danielle shouting "done" as Shane blathered on and on about swearing on his son, just a note, Survivor is not important enough to swear a loved one's life on. I cracked up watching the Casaya members biting their way through rope during the challenge, but I have to say it worked. Dan takes the blame for the loss, but how much it was Sally's doing, knowing she'd be safer on Exile Island than back at Boys Town.

Bruce didn't say a single word the entire episode, and he looked pretty rough after the challenge. He can't possibly be happy hanging out with the "alliance” as it tears itself to shreds. In the end the La Mina men ousted spaceman Dan in a totally anticlimactic vote. Honestly has there ever been a more boring, predictable tribe on Survivor? I can't wait to see who is injured and airlifted off the island.

I bet it is Courtney. What a drama queen.

She repulses me. Not since Stephenie have I disliked a Survivor so bad.......even though I repsected Steph and thought she should have won.

Go Shane...win it all.
