see, skorp, i respect your opinion, and i know you're open-minded about the negativity, but i think jim o's post is just another in a long line (not jim o - but a lot of peeps on this site) that only serve to further encite personal attacks. i know it's said in jest, but if i was called out by a moderator and then someone else piled on, i'd be pissed.
I don't know exactly why I have chosen this post to respond to or quote, but in some small way, I imagine because there was some sense of support in it. If I understand some of the related posts on this thread any animosity or prejudice spewed by contributors was initiated by me. The posted photo and following commentary by others have intimated that there is a homophobic reaction to my existence. But then I did previously address the Garcia homosexuality thread as repugnant. I'm sure that inspired some to attach a label to me and mis "out" me. I'm sure my ex wife and son will be shocked to learn of these new found tendencies of mine. Please don't confuse my sensitivity and sympathy for ostracized individuals with my own personal persuasion or gender preference. Then I have no sympathy for any person who would find others " abnormalities " as a target for hate. Then I have also been accused as a racist because I didn't like the Dennis Green hiring. In my old age, I have suddenly developed a racial bias contrary to my participation in protests during the 60's.
I grew up in South Florida in the 50s and 60s and saw and experienced enough racial hatred to last anyone a lifetime. I have no desire to respond to racists, as evidenced by my non participation in any exchange on just such an issue as promoted by " VikeFan" who repeatedly and without admonition brought out the race card against me with personal atacks. I learned long ago that racial bigots of any side of the issue aren't worth the energy they feed on.
This forum doesn't need me and I don't need it. What I once thought would be an experience in communication in a common area of interest has trivialized into a name calling , mud slinging exercize in futility for all of us. I have been a Cardinal fan for 40 plus years and probably will remain one. My admitted mistake was believing in the free flow of discussion that I enjoy participating in and the thought that Sports is just a game and not all that important in the grand scheme of things. There aren't enough "smilies" available to convey a writers intent for some readers, so in total frustration, I will admit that what I find humorous and light others find serious and insulting. Most disturbing to me is the form of censorship imposed arbitrarily by the administrators, but it is their game and if I don't like the rules I needn't play.
