WR Ryan Swope Retires

Darren Urban ‏@Cardschatter 3m
#AzCardinals place WR Ryan Swope on reserve-retired list. Not a shock, but tough way for his brief Cards career to end.

WOW, That is crazy. but yet not very surprising.

It was the first risk that has not worked out. And I am sure it will not be the last.

Cards announce: John Abraham and Eric Winston added, O'Brien Schofielf cut, Ryan Swope retired. Big day.

Busy day

Sucks for him - but the right move.

It was a gamble of an extra 6th round pick. Not the end of the world

Ugh. Rough for us, even worse for the kid. He had a ton of potential. I feel sorry for him, and hope it doesn't affect his future.

It's never a wash IMO if a guy never even plays a single down let alone sees the field for even a practice! :bang:

But the kid's life is not in danger now. A normal life for a wasted 6th round pick, a wash IMHO.

I was a gamble of an extra pick we got. It feels like more of a wash to me.

Agreed.

It is a gamble on a 6th round pick. Not a big deal.

A 6th round pick being cut at the end of training camp is a normal occurrence.

For good, veteran teams. Because those teams have established starters and there isn't as much room for younger players. New England and Pittsburgh shed late-round picks all the time (in part because they get a healthy amount of compensatory picks, as well--for the same reasons, really).

But young and awful teams? They can't really afford to blow cheap talent.

I'm sorry, but imo bad teams trying to rebuild don't just throw away draft picks especially when the team knows he had concussion issues coming out of college.

Arizona not rebuilding. They are trying to win now.

Are we sure about that? Because I'm confused about how we're trying to "win now" with an average quarterback, an average running back, and an offensive line that's filled with question marks.

I'm gonna start a thread/poll tonight or tomorrow (after I have a chance to think through how to put it) on who we think the Arizona Cardinals are right now.

Why all are average all are vets with the thought of winning now.

I see what you're saying, but we are rebuilding regardless of what the coach or you say. sure were trying to win but realistically nobody's giving this team a shot. We've added some pieces but still have question marks in critical areas.

Lets call it a rebuild on the fly.
