Talladega Nights, starring Will Farrell, was supposed to open big, box office analysts had predicted, but not this big. The film took in an estimated $47 million, making it the second-biggest opening for an original comedy ever, behind Bruce Almighty, which opened with $68 million in May, 2003. The movie was far ahead of Ferrell's previous biggest opening, Elf, which took in $31 million in November, 2003. '

agree totally. Not anywhere close to Anchorman. But pretty funny, especially in light of the relative drek comedies put out so far this summer.

Way better than Achorman. I need to see it again to hear certain parts in the movie that couldn't be heard over the laughter.

I plan to watch it again at the "dollar" theater on Bell Road and the 17.

The little red-headed boy, playing Ricky Bobby's son Texas Ranger (brother of Walker) was AWESOME! His delivery was priceless...such good delivery for such a young kid in his first role. His lines always had me laughing, especially after his grandma (Jane Lynch) threatened to "paint their back porch red." I think this kid is gonna get some roles in the near future.

Radio dude today (I think it was the guy filling in for Jim Rome) said that kid stole the show.

It was Skip Bayless....and he's worthless.....I wonder if my emails got read. All he talks about is the Buckeyes and how he thinks Louisville will win the BCS game this year.

SKIP BAYLESS.....YOU SUCK

It's cuz he's getting lazy. I was surprised he even re upped the contract to do the Jungle. I thought he'd just go to his TV show.

I’ve been to two. The first one was at the old Rockn’ Rodeo (not sure what it’s called anymore). It was pretty good. Pat Tillman stole the show. He was up on stage for about 5 minutes telling some really funny stories.

The second one was out at Desert Sky??? It was before the 2001 D’backs season and Jerry Colangelo was up there telling everyone how this was going to be “The year of the Diamonbacks!” I guess he was right…..

Ferrell's Plea for Press Attention

Hollywood funnyman Will Ferrell is insulted the paparazzi aren't interested in him and even begged a snapper to take his picture during a recent trip to London. The Old School star is left alone by the media in his native America, and confesses he would love to sample life as a hounded superstar. He tells Total Film magazine, "They don't care about me. Not in America, at least. But a weird thing happened in London, last year. I was strolling around with my wife and child. We were curious to see if anyone would notice or even care that I was there. Suddenly, this photographer just kind of materialized and went 'click'. Then he ran away." Ferrell admits he even called after him saying: "Hey! It's okay! Make me more famous!" He adds, "It was just one guy. I was appalled and insulted. I wanted to know where the others were hiding."

Hanging out with Will Ferrell would be a blast, I'm 99% sure of it.

Saw this movie on Saturday night. I thought it was pretty funny. It wont be a favorite of mine, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

I think Will Ferrell should run around in his underwear more often. Incredibly funny.

I just watched this last night. I thought it was really funny. I’ll definitely watch it again when it comes out on DVD. Gary Cole was awesome.

Wow! Talk about a movie that just plain and simply didnt live up to the hype. This is it! Will Ferrell just hasent been that good lately. Mediocre at best!

Oh, silly funny indeed! Oh dear lord baby Jesus, just 8 months old, not able to say a word, in your little gold fleece diapers...

Anchorman was funny, but it was missing an element to it. True, it had much more of the parody of social circumstance, but while Talladega Nights had less of that, it had the incredibly stupid character dialects that made all of the stupid dialogue even funnier.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that I'm an improv actor that watched it with another improv actor, and we became hillbilly racecar drivers on the ride home.

And, just remember, if you don't like Big Red, then #*C( you!

Have you seen Stranger Than Fiction? Winter Passing? (Yes I've seen Bewitched, Screaming and Kicking, and Melinda and Melinda)

Will Ferrell has been pretty solid. Definitely more hits than misses.

While Talladega Nights wasn't up to par as far as hype is concerned, neither was Anchorman (until after a few viewings). It's one of those movies that need several viewings to appreciate for it's in your face humor but more importantly the subtleties and nuances of the film that make it rewatchable.

Don't watch the extended version, so I've been told. It drags.

Watch the regular version, the theatrical.

Shane, why (oh why) would you go see thisn movie? You know your tastes in film, and had to know this wouldn't be a fit.

I didnt. The wife rented it and I watched it on the couch with her. (made her happy)

It's still funny, but nowhere near Anchorman. Not even the same stratosphere. There are some good lines, like "If you don't chew Big Red, then f you" and such, but it doesn't stay fresh on rewatches like Anchorman.

And there is no way Jenna and I could ruin a Jason thread by dropping back to back quotes for 20 posts or so with Ricky Bobby quotes. Ricky Bobby can't hold Ron Burgandy's jock.
