FWIW, still think this team should've been sellers and should've done all they could to grab top young talent for Pollock and Corbin. Odds are we won't make the post season this year and even if we do, it will be as the #2 Wild Card where we will likely go to Milwaukee and get beat. And then watch AJ and Patrick walk away with nothing in return. Man that's gonna suck...

You just can’t be sellers when you are only 3 games from best record in the league

This is their predicament. They are stuck going for it this year and they will lose Corbin for sure and most likely Pollack with no return. What will they do today to strengthen the team is the question since, if anything, they are buyers.

Dbacks just acquired one of the Rangers relievers (Diekman) in a trade.
Would be awesome if he pitched tonight.

'Any ideas why Robbie Ray has deteriorated? With Corbin, the other lefty in the rotation, probably signing with the Yankees next season, you'd think Robbie would be comfortable. Maybe he's been too comfortable.

Or could it be that the D-backs carrying three starting Catchers, with either one of two catching Robbie, neither of whom is evidently the best handler, causes problems. Like the Suns gimmick of having three lead Point Guard a few years back.

Three starting Catchers gives two of the starting Pitchers chemistry, but what does it do to the other three in the rotation?

Ray - You're pitches aren't "working" when it takes 98 to go 5 1/3 innings. Just saying.

Yeah, not a formula for success. Gotta love guys that pitch to contact like Grienke. They usually go much deeper into games if they're any good.

Also makes the game a lot more fun to watch.

Meanwhile, Zack is 4th in the NL in strikeouts...

I would love to know the answer to that question too. There are true baseball guys on this forum who probably see more than the rest of us, what changed from last year to this year? Was last year really a fluke? To me the only logical explanation is he is not fully healthy. Ziegler was asked this afternoon why he's been so dominant the last 2 months and he said the only difference from the beginning of the year is he is fully healthy (battled with a back injury), maybe Ray is compensating because he's hurt.

I don’t know that I’d call Nick Ahmed a good hitter but he has become much better than I thought he would.

A couple of years ago he was horrible.
