For the ulTIMate Cardinal diehards like me, each week I will follow the NFC playoff race until our beloved Cardinals are officially eliminated. The Cardinals have won 2 of the past 3 games which has put them (sort of) back in the playoff hunt.

Currenly the Top 6 NFC Seeds are:
1. Green Bay 10-0
2. SF 49ers 9-1
3. New Orleans 7-3
4. Dallas 6-4
---------------------------
5. Detroit 7-3 (5-3) vs Green Bay
6. Chicago 7-3 (6-3) at Oakland
_______________________
Arizona Cardinals 3-7 (3-5) at St. Louis

As Cardinal fans we need to root for the Lions and/or Bears to lose this week which would drop them to 7-4 and hurt there NFC Conference record noted in parenthesis. If the Cardinals can get a big road win in St. Louis they get within 3 games of the final wildcard spot- with 5 games still remaining (4 of those games at home). So anything is still possible. We just need to take it one game at a time and live to breath another week.

Obviously there are a lot of teams between the Cardinals and the NFC playoffs but this is all we need to focus on this week- Bears and/or Lions losing and our Cardinals winning.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Do you see the Cards winning out?

That is the epitome of being opTIMistic. But if we want to look for something to be happy about right now, DWash's INT Sunday broke Smith's streak of something like 151 passes in the redzone without an INT.

Realistically no - but on paper- their 2 toughest opponents left (vs. Dallas, vs. 49ers) are both at home. Historically they always play Dallas well and maybe they catch a break when 49ers come into town as they might have wrapped up their playoff seeding by then.

A SF win and a Seattle loss clinches the division for the Niners.

I created this thread for the fun of it- but the reality is the Cardinals are still mathematically alive. Until that possibility ends lets have fun with the upcoming game at St. Louis!

Jeez... would that be the quickest clinch in league history? There is still a 3rd of the season left.

Well we got the Lions loss we needed! They are now 7-4 (5-4 conference record). A Cardinals win this weekend means they gain a game in the wildcard race, no matter the outcomes in any other NFL games. The Cardinals can also get within "1" gm of the Lions in conference record. Go Cardinals!

Way to go Cardinals! Wells & Peterson lead the Big Red to a very big road win and now just 3 games behind the 6th seed in the NFC - with still "5" games to go!

Right

Playoffs with no quarterback. Who cares if we do? We'll be the worst team to ever get in. (for real this time)

Easy there pessimistic Pete. This thread is about being optimistic not about being a negative Nelly.

If the defense and special teams continue to play at a very high level- and the offense can get a healthy Kolb, Heap and Housler back to compliment Beanie - anything is indeed possible!

I'm not saying they can, or will, make the playoffs but a win against Dallas this week, which is very possible, and things could get mighty interesting. Seattle and Cleveland they'll be favorites against, SF is at home where anything can happen. Then, who knows, we may be in Cincy cheering the Cards to a playoff clinching victory :koolaid:.

4. Dallas 7-4

5. Chicago 7-4 (6-4) vs KC
6. Atlanta 7-4 (5-4) At HOU

7. Detroit 7-4 (5-4) at NO
Arizona Cardinals 4-7 (4-5) vs Dallas

For the Cardinals to gain ground in the wildcard race this week, they need to beat Dallas and hope 2 of the 3 teams currently at 7-4 lose. If QB K.Orton takes on his old team- Bears, KC has a shot to win. Houston has QB issues but surely has a shot of winning at home vs Falcons. The Saints should beat Detroit.

Go Cardinals!!!

Well so far both Chicago and Atlanta are trailing in the later stages of their games. All we need is 2 of the 3 teams at 7-4 to lose to help the Cardinals playoff hopes but if these scores hold- its possible all "3" teams might lose today.

Beat Dallas and this gets very interesting!

How about all three losing. plus the Giants which you left out also lost. Chicago is pretty much done with alltheir injuries. Detroit is going down. and the Giants still have to play the cowgirls twice. The Cards have quietly won 4 of last 5... Not bad..

I took some abuse when I created this thread several weeks ago...but slowly the opTIMism I was selling is spreading throughout the board. Still a ton of work to go for the Cardinals and tomorrow ill post the updated standings.
