Worse yet...

The Lakers began their temporary life without Lamar Odom with a loss to the Mavericks. Since Odom joined the Lakers for the 2004-05 season, Los Angeles has a .522 winning percentage in the games that he's played (91-74) compared to a .143 mark in the games that Odom has missed (3-18).

I can't even comment on this game.

We scored 10 points in the first quarter. Ten. 10. TEN!

Props to Kwame (defensive) Smush (offense and d) and Kobe...yikes. 50+ and damn near a triple double (and if my boy Kwame would have made two of three layups, or Luke one, or countless other misses, he would have had it with 53/8/10).

We were shooting 20 percent midway through the second quarter....

What a game to watch...

Yeah, no crap dude. And then they only scored 25 in the second quarter.

That's THIRTY FIVE POINTS IN THE HALF!!!!!!

And yet we win.

Wow.

Thank goodness for road back to backs, and of course, Kobe Bryant.

Some people will not give credit where it is due, but the Lakers are legit. Saw most of the Houston game last night and have watched them here and there and continue to come away impressed. However, I'm not sure they're championship legit and likely will not be until Bynum and Farmar develop. But they are well-coached, deep, and have a nice cast of role players that fit well.

What a game. Cookie hits a monster 3 and the Lakers tie to go to overtime. In the end, Agent Zero's 60 was just too much.

Lakers choke away a third quarter 10 point lead, after controlling most of the game, and lose by 5. Awful fourth quarter, and Kobe fouls out with two minutes left.

Heal soon, Lamar....

dude - you better pray that he comes back in the minimum time of 4 weeks - if it's 8, the Lakes might not make the playoffs. That's how important Odom is to this team. Big setback losing Odom... huge.

That's an exaggeration, cheese.

I'm not worried about the Lakers not making the playoffs even if they don't have Odom. They won't do much in them without him, for sure, but they will be ok. They played badly and still outplayed a hot Chicago team on the road for 3 quarters...it will take them a bit of time to get used to not having LO.

However, with LO they are a dangerous team and contenders. Without him, they are playoff fodder.

But you are right, losing LO is huge...he's a triple double threat every night, a good rebounder, the offense initiator and a matchup problem for teams like Dallas (who we should have beat if LO had been in there). It's a reason I tire of all the online Laker fans clamoring to trade Odom...he's a great triangle fit.

I hate seeing KB touch the ball nearly every single time up the floor. That is when I miss LO the most.

Even with Odom, I do not believe that they are contenders. I believe that they can win a 1st round playoff series, but no more.

without him they are 1-3 and in the past two season somethin atrocious liuke 4-18... they can't finish games without him and now that they finally go on the road for 20 of their next 28 games, they're going to need to play out of their heads to stay above water. The only reason the playoffs may not be that big a stretch is because the Westis top heavy, but there's no doubt the Lakers are in for an incredibly rough stretch if Odom is out for 2 months.

you think it's a matter of time to get used to playing without Odom, but I think that's over-estimating the talent level on the team, as well as Kobe Bryant's ability to be both scorer and facilitator. There's NO ONE else on that club who can consistently create for others.

actually, looking at the standings and realizing how top heavy the West is, you're right D-Dogg, the playoffs, even without Odom for the full two months are probably within reach, but likely as a 7 or 8 seed, which means another first round exit, no matter who's playing come April. There really have been a rash of injuries this year around the league.

Lakers just put in a great effort at Minnesota, couldn't tell they were on teh back end of a road back to back. They were down ten going in to the fourth, and won 111-94. Great play by Kobe...24 points on 10-16 shooting, 4 rebounds and 6 assists.

Vlad had a really good game, and Bynum played very well. GOOD WIN.

Gonna need to get some more of those type of character building wins while Lamar is on the shelf.
