Damn, but we are a young team....

Bynum..... .19
Farmar...... 20
Ronny....... 23
Sasha..........22
Kwame....... 24
Smush........25
Vlad........... 26
Mihm..........26
Luke...........26
Cook...........26
Odom........ 27
Evans........ 28
Kobe......... 28
Shammond....31
McKie............34

Only McKie was born during the Vietnam war era. Wow.

IF this team gels, we can keep any of these young guys we want and have them for many, many years, and none of them (even Kobe) has hit their prime yet. If we can get chemistry, we've got a good to very good team for a lot of years.

Ronny Turiaf keeps this kind of stuff up, he's a sixth man of the year candidate.

My goodness....13 points, 3 blocks and 7 boards in 15:30 of play, mostly in crunch time to basically win the game? After dropping 23 two days ago on the road?

Update:

Pacific Division

Lakers 3-0
Clippers 2-1
Warriors 1-2
Kings 1-2
Suns 1-3

:jedi:

Yeah, but we have the Clips up very soon.

It looks fantastic now, but it's like a first quarter lead in the NFL. Don't mean much unless you can finish it out. The Lakers have a home heavy schedule in the start of the season...albeit against some strong teams in the Clips, the Wolves, The Suns (done with that) and the Pistons. Tough home games. Let's see where we are twenty games in.

Though I do keep looking at the NBA whole league standings and get happy seeing the Lakers with the best record in the NBA.

Regardless...I really, really, really love this Laker team. Top to bottom, I love these guys.

Lakers are in Seattle tonight for the back end of a home and home. 7:00 PM Arizona time with coverage on NBA League Pass, which is still in free preview.

Lakers getting smoked tonight...started off hot, 31 points first q, then went ice cold. Fell in love with missing threes and played very sloppy ball. 18 turnovers at the start of the 4th quarter.

Just ugly, ugly basketball.

Doesn't help the sonics shooting 55% FG and 65% 3P to the Lakers 47% FG and 30% 3PT.

In good news, Kobe looks healthier than the last game...more wind and legs better. 15 pts. on 4-9 shooting, 7 assists 4 boards, early in the 4th.

Bynum had a fantastic game. Kobe 17 pts, 6 assist, 4 boards on 5 of 7 shooting. Thought he was gonna destroy Bynum's development or some such nonsense.

20 points on 6 of 9. 14 Rebounds. 3 blocks. Kid is the future.

All in 29 mins. The kid also had 0 turnovers and 0 fouls! His line doesn't even take into account all the shots he altered. So impressed with him.

The Lakers are just a different team so far when Bynum is on the floor. The game seemed to be slipping away until Phil put him back in around the 3:00 minute mark.

Feels good to be 4-1. :D

Had to make a new sig.

phil jackson said:
"I questioned my motives putting him in at the end of the game (because Minnesota had gone small, and Bynum still isn't accustomed to big minutes stamina wise), and he rewarded me with good play, rebounds and blocked shots, and some made free throws. He really was a good defender for us tonight," Jackson said. "With Andrew, we just keep feeding him things and hope that we can keep him reading and defensively he can become a guy who can protect the lane for us. It's something that we haven't had for a couple years now, but he's the one we kind of envisioned would become that kind of guy, that would block shots and rebound and defend the lane, too."

lakersblog.latimes.com said:
There was one downside to Bynum's huge evening, however. His post-game shower was nullified by the heat an ensuing swarm of reporters created. Thus, he was a little bummed about boarding the team plane somewhat on the sweaty side. BK joked that he just needed to play worse so the press would leave him alone. Bynum laughed, nixing that plan. Nor, for that matter, will he take my suggestion of carrying around one of those little portable fans, which he doesn't think is the most intimidating look for a seven footer.

Kobe Bryant said:
Maybe a few years ago, I might have looked at things different. But it's not about me. It's about us.

Crappy game against DET. Someone should have told the Lakers that the game started at 7:30 not 9:35.

Shooting 40% is not good.

Chris Mihm shutting it down for the season is somewhat unfortunate.

Lamar getting tossed was just dumb on LO's part.

Vlad looked like crap. Smush Parker played like rec league at best.

Turnovers were terrible. Kobe didn't even shoot twice until the fourth quarter, where he went on a tear for a bit. Doesn't help when you are down 20. Shooting was ATROCIOUS...we couldn't beat the zone because guys couldn't draw iron, much less net. At one point we were shooting 27 percent late in the third quarter. Ugh.

Lots of stripping of the ball on both sides...can't believe that none of those maybe 20 strips were fouls.

Lamar taking off his wristbands and tossing them to the courtside is a tech? Really? In what universe? Too heavy handed yet again with the techs...especially a second tech.

Smush looked horrible. Rebounding was terrible. Farmar looked good. Kobe looked hurt. Bynum looked good in spot duty. Too many missed opportunities.

Bad, bad game.

Lakers are in Tortonto tonight, the site of 81 last season, for a mix up with the Raptors and T-rex arms himself, Chris Bosh.

Kobe won't have 81, but he might just get a triple double tonight. Oh, and we walk in this one.
