Looks like Kawhi is done with the Spurs.

I don't follow the Spurs but from what little I've read, I think this has been a done deal ever since his Uncle took over managing him. He's eligible for (and apparently demanding) a 219 million dollar contract and I can't see any team building a championship around that kind of money.

If LeBron goes to the Sixers, they could actually destroy the Warriors next year. Assuming Fultz improves a little, they would be just as athletic and HUGE.

Just imagine if that oft-transferred Lakers pick conveys this year. If they think they have Lebron in the bag, I could see them putting together a package for Kawhi that wouldn't destroy their core.

It's been a long time since their days of fo-fi-fo.

It will be ironic if they beat the team that left Philly.

Oh my lord... LeBron, Leonard, Embiid, Simmons Fultz and all their shooters. Good lord that team would be terrifying.

And the Spurs would end up with another generational Center... of course.

Although I think if the Cavs somehow get the first pick, they could swing for Leonard and make the Cavs a legit threat again.

So. You are saying Philly trades the Laker pick and their own, and something else for Kawhi? Then they sign LeBron? Actually. That could happen.

I think that's what Steve is saying. Not sure if they have enough room for salary wise for both of those guys though.

But if they did... holy crap, that team is literally loaded for bear for a decade because even if Bron wins another two or three titles with them and retires at like 36, they would STILL have Leonard, Simmons, Embiid and Fultz, who would all then be in their prime.

The crazy thing is they MIGHT be able to make caproom when you consider that Embiid, Simmons, fultz, and Saric are still in rookie deals, right? And reddick is on a one-year $22M deal that expires.

No one can this happen.

Embiid is in the last year of his rookie contract (missed his first two seasons) and will certainly be getting max money this off season.

Edit: He actually already signed a 5 year 148 mil contract extension that will kick in next season.

Would Pop really be ok with starting over in San Antonio? I think getting Ayton could be huge for them but I'm not sure that would keep him on the bench long enough to turn them into title contenders again. A lot of people thought that Popovich would retire with Duncan but he's stuck it out for 2 years now and he's 69 years old. I can see him staying for another 2 or 3 years at the most if they're not able to compete for championships and without Leonard, they're not a contender. I don't think replacing Leonard with Ayton makes them a contender in the next year or two either. By the time Ayton is able to carry a team the Spurs wouldn't have Manu, Gasol, or Tony Parker and Aldridge will be close to retirement since he'll be turning 33 this offseason.

I'd be surprised if Pop would be ok with trading Kawhi for the #1 pick if only because they wouldn't be contenders with Ayton and Aldridge leading them. I could see them trading Kawhi for a young player who is ready to break out but not someone who hasn't played a minute in the league yet.

Sometimes you choose to rebuild, and sometimes rebuilding is forced upon you.

The G-League plans to announce today that players will receive a base salary of $7,000 per month or $35,000 total for the entire five-month season during the 2018-19 season, a source told ESPN's The Undefeated. Players can also earn additional money... (link: http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0777929259669786786-4) espn.com/espn/now?nowId…

That's close to a 10k dollar raise a year for them. I'm not sure that will help much but it is quite a bit more for the time they're playing.
