Because clickbait.
Bingo.
Because clickbait.
Los Angeles Clippers forward Wesley Johnson will exercise his $6.1M player option for next season, league sources tell Yahoo. Johnson enters the final season of a three-year, $18M deal.
It's amazing that he's managed to carve out the career that he has. He's never averaged better than 10 points a game, he doesn't pass, he's not a particularly good defender or rebounder, and he shoots only 34% from three-point range. Yet he'll crack $30 million in career earnings next season.

Not sure. Maybe this job was his top priority.Did Igor interview for any other openings?

Hmm if true I find this curiousI don't think so. I saw him mentioned in multiple articles about possible coaching hires for the various openings but I didn't hear anything about an actual interview other than with us.
The New York Knicks have agreed to hire David Fizdale as head coach on a four-year contract.

Actually that’s NOT where I was going. What would his not being interviewed for other jobs have to do with his salary? Rather, it makes me question why no other team saw him as a desirable commodity. I mean we hear nothing but glowing reports about him. Why would no other team not only not try to sign him, but not even interview him. Doesn’t that seem curious to you? I’m not trying to throw shade in his signing as I’m hopeful he’ll be good. I honestly know little about him. But that’s the type of fact that makes me say hmmm what does everyone else know that we don’t. I mean, when was the last time this front office and leadership went against the grain and was proven the genius? Just a thought.Gambo said on the show yesterday that Igor will make between $4-5 million a year, which is more than either Hornacek or Watson made, if that's where you're headed with your thinking. Hornacek was hired for 4 years on a $10 million dollar deal and Watson got 3 years and $9 million. Those are the numbers Gambo mentioned at least when he said what Igor would make. That would put him in the middle of the pack as far as coaching salaries and the majority of people ahead of him are also GM's and coaches so of course they make a lot more. Igor is a 1st time head coach but he was paid a fair market rate in comparison to what other teams are offering to fill their vacancies. He was not lowballed.
These are all good points for why HE might be interest in Phoenix. But not why no other team would be interested in him. It's also possible that he was happy in Utah, but had interest in Phoenix. I mean, he lives there, he worked there for years, he has a relationship with the owner already.

You might argue but I give 99% of the credit for that move to JCBringing Nash back in 2004.
