Actually that’s NOT where I was going. What would his not being interviewed for other jobs have to do with his salary? Rather, it makes me question why no other team saw him as a desirable commodity. I mean we hear nothing but glowing reports about him. Why would no other team not only not try to sign him, but not even interview him. Doesn’t that seem curious to you? I’m not trying to throw shade in his signing as I’m hopeful he’ll be good. I honestly know little about him. But that’s the type of fact that makes me say hmmm what does everyone else know that we don’t. I mean, when was the last time this front office and leadership went against the grain and was proven the genius? Just a thought.

Perhaps it's because he's with a team still in the playoffs. He got permission to speak with the Suns but other teams might have been waiting for Utah to be knocked out before speaking with him. Since he has a history with Phoenix and owns a home here, that could be why Utah allowed him to interview in the middle of their postseason run, he's not going far. I'm not sure why he didn't have other interviews this offseason but Utah's current position most likely plays a part in it. Teams can talk with all other candidates right now and if they get blown away by one of them, why wait hiring them just to interview one other guy you were considering? Especially when it appeared he became a favorite for the Suns after his 1st interview here.

Ah, by "this front office" you meant "these people," not the Suns in general. Yeah, I don't this current front office has ever outsmarted anyone.
Only thing I can think of is the lead up to last years draft and the Josh Jackson pre-draft interview process.

I guess, but everyone had Jackson as a top-four pick, so it didn't take much skill to pick him there. Once the Lakers got the #2 pick, Fultz and Ball were locked into their slots, and the narrative that the Suns cleverly hid Jackson from the Celtics is a myth -- they were taking Tatum regardless.

Really? Who's your source? There's nothing that says that. And if you believe the Celtics when they say that after the fact, then I have a solar-powered flashlight to sell you.

I tend to agree. It might be that Ainge was trying to decide between Jackson and Tatum and those events tipped the scales. But I don't for a second believe they had Tatum over Jackson on any definitive level.

Everyone had the Celtics taking Tatum at #3, and there was widespread speculation that the Celtics were willing to trade down two spots because that's who they wanted anyway. Put it this way: If the Celtics preferred Fultz, Ball, or even Jackson, why did they trade down?

You're familiar with Occam's Razor, right? Which is more likely: That the Celtics got the guy they wanted all along, or that the Suns' inept front office outsmarted them?

If he's the guy they wanted all along then why were they flying across the country to meet with Josh Jackson... only to be rejected from actually meeting him. Which, by the way, if that had happened to the Suns would have had an apocalyptic reaction among some posters here.

Oh yeah... this board would have gone nuts with half of it blasting the team for its ineptitude and the other turning the player into the devil.

He still has 2 years on his contract, how is going to "sign" in LA?

Sign. As in play on their team. When key players want out they often get their way and end up with one of the good teams. So he's suggesting that the Spurs and Hell A work out a deal.

We’re hearing about Lebron and Knicks now that they hired Fizdale.
Oh. I think we will hear about that a lot. Fiz and LeBron are a thing. It would not surprise me if the fact that there is no way in H that LeBron is coming to Phoenix is what the real issue was between Fiz and the Suns.

They could probably trade Porzingis/Ntilikina/filler for Kawhi and Kanter opts out. Sign Lebron.

I did not realize how high their payroll was. Yikes. They have $55 million next year tied up in Kanter, Noah, and Hardaway Jr.
