The NBA got to the point about two decades ago where double dribbling effectively ceased to be a violation due to so many players carrying the ball on the dribble. Now I guess traveling is going the same way, particularly if you are a "superstar." After all, whistling violations just slows down the "excitement" of the game... or something.

If you don't call traveling, its no longer basketball.

Actually... on like a 5th viewing, that legit might have been legal. It looks like Ben Simmons whacks the ball, if so then it isn't a travel... I think.

Actually it looked like Lebron was fouled on his drive so if the referees are not going to call it, don't call traveling either.

I'm doing from memory not the rule book but for that to not be a travel Simmons has to knock the ball out of LeBron's possession entirely. Then LeBron gathers it back and the posesssion starts over. Sometimes you see players release the ball in the air then catch it back after it's touched, but LeBron didn't do that he had his hand on the ball in his possession the whole time.

There's an argument that maybe Simmons fouls him, but call the foul don't let him walk and then lay the ball in.

Ewing was about the worst he'd get 5 steps on some of those drives he'd put up. Even the Dream Shake was often an uncalled walk. But this one is pretty blatant too.

Shaq's dive into the lane then do a complete jumpstop and then go up with his shot was repeated ridiculousness that was never called either.

NBA has suspended Warriors' Shaun Livingston for one game and removed referee Courtney Kirkland for one week for role in altercation in Sunday's game in Miami.

Probably correct. The ref should not have been moving him backwards.

Livingston has been off all year, he seems to be getting into shouting matches with refs much more often this year.

With Curry's ankle the Warriors are going to need Livingston to step up for awhile possibly, will be interesting to see if he's up to the task or not now.

Nerlens Noel sustained a thumb injury. I still can't believe he turned down a 4 year, 72 million dollar contract. I'm skeptical he will get more in free agency.

Noel will likely be out between four and six weeks.

The Dallas Mavericks hope Noel returns before the trade deadline. Noel rejected a four-year, $72 million offer from Dallas this past offseason and signed for the qualifying offer.

This is just the second season in NBA history in which two teams (Boston and Cleveland) have uncorked winning streaks of 13+ within the first 30 games ... while Houston is quietly on a little 14-1 run ...

Hearing that the NBA has another international treat in store for All-Star Weekend: A squad of @nbagleague All-Stars playing host to the Mexican national team

I'm still trying to figure out what the proper response should be on this one. :)

I think I found it.

MEXICO CITY — The National Basketball Association intends to move quickly to put an N.B.A. G League franchise here in the Mexican capital, N.B.A. Commissioner Adam Silver said Thursday.

“Mexico is a flourishing basketball market with growing fan interest and increased youth participation,” Silver said. “We are actively engaged in discussions to establish an N.B.A. G League franchise in Mexico City.”

Good for Mexico City.

Two really interesting box scores tonight:

1. Bulls vs Celtics

http://www.espn.co.uk/nba/boxscore?gameId=400975142

Statement of the obvious maybe but a good PG makes all the difference in the world for other players to get good shots off. Tatum has been killing it this year, and without Kyrie for one game he produces this jackson / bender like performance.

2. Rockets vs Pelicans

http://www.espn.co.uk/nba/boxscore?gameId=400975143

Who needs bigs? Particularly if you’re Mike d’antoni, you have James harden and Chris Paul and this is the NBA in 2017.

If anyone can progress the boundaries of what MDA started with us and SSOL, and what the Warriors are currently winning with, it’s probably MDA ... all he needed was the right players (so not Kobe and not Carmelo in other words).
