Dan Gilbert is an idiot, as if that wasn't already clear. Apparently he "doesn't care" if Lebron leaves again because they already won a title.

There's more in this link, a few tweets and an ESPN article which I'll link directly below.

http://www.totalprosports.com/2018/...ves-again-wants-to-be-jerry-jones-of-the-nba/

I know the chances are slim but I wonder if they'd actually be open to trading him before the deadline, they have 2 days.

If Gilbert was smart, he would try to trade Lebron for value before he walks.

I know Lebron would have to approve the trade but he should be talking to him hard right now to see if there are any options he likes.

Or just get a deal figured with a team like Houston where it'd be really tempting for Lebron to take it. He could tell him that he won't be resigned or that if he doesn't OK the trade he'll trade off a few other players for picks or something. Lebron isn't in a position to turn down a trade, I know he can, but Gilbert could force his hand.

There must be some trade out there for Lebron from a playoff team trying to get over the top. The key would be making room for his salary.

Sure there is. LeBron to the Bucks for Middleton, Henson, and Parker and picks. The Bucks then field a big three of The Freak, LeBron, and Bledsoe. They would just need some outside shooting. We could send them Troy Daniels and Dudley and a pick for Brogdon and taking on Tele's dead weight contract.

I'm not interested in helping the Bucks. I do like Brogdon though.

You have to wonder with a guy that big that does those types of things physically. Its a lot of stress on tendons joints etc.

And just like that there's another team in the tank race.

Wonder or expect? I wanted no part of him in those trade talks a while back; a 7’3” White guy has only Rik Smits for comparison durability wise and even he didn’t have a full playing career.

OKC had lost 4 in a row headed into yesterdays game with Golden State at Oracle but they managed to beat them 125-105. OKC plays down to their competition too often, which I don't think is a coaching problem so much as it's who Westbrook and Carmelo are as players. They've lost to some bad teams this year but when they've played the top teams in the league they've played great. The Warriors never led once during the game, which was the first time since April 2012 they'd had that happen to them at home. OKC was also without Andre Roberston who is out for the season with a knee injury and Carmelo went down with a sprained ankle in the 1st quarter after playing just 6 minutes, he didn't return either. OKC was shorthanded really and they still managed to take down the Warriors. They've got to be the team that no one out west wants to see in the playoffs this year. I think they could take the Warriors in a 7 game series.

The Clippers have given Lou Williams a 3 year extension, so it looks like he's been taken off the trade market. It's odd that they extended him considering they sent Blake out and are also looking to unload DeAndre Jordan, who can opt out of his deal this summer. Not sure what they're doing there. Williams is 31 years old and he's not a star to build around. Perhaps they plan on retooling rather than rebuilding completely.

Jerry West is involved, so there IS a plan and probably a good one--unless he has gotten Alzheimers or something.

I don't know if New York will try tanking. They have Hornacek as their coach still and he may need to win as much as possible to keep his job there. Based on his time coaching here, he's not very good at losing meaningless games to improve draft position. Hopefully he can get the Knicks to go on a run to build more distance between them and us. They are 5 wins ahead of us now.

I like how you can view the standings for the entire league on ESPN now. I imagine they added that because of people wanting to see where their teams are in the race for pingpong balls. The Suns are 1 win ahead of getting the most, they're even in the loss column with Dallas and Atlanta though. I hope Dallas makes a trade at the deadline that adds some talent to their team. Cuban isn't big on tanking and the Mavericks are generally pretty active at the deadline.

The Clipps reportedly turned down an offer from Cleveland that included the Cav's own first rounder, JR Smith, and Tristan Thompson for DeAndre Jordan. The Cavs were also sending an undisclosed amount of cash as well. That's an interesting move after the Williams extension. I don't blame them for turning that down as those contracts are awful. Reports earlier in the year were that they'd trade Jordan for Thompson and the Nets pick when the Cavs were only offering their own pick, Frye, and Shumpert.

If nothing else, Williams will become a trade asset this summer especially on such a reasonable contract.

They ain’t getting Jordan unless they deal the Brooklyn pick or one of their future first rounders with no protection.

That Brooklyn pick is about the most overrated asset ever— right next to this year’s Laker pick. The fans of three or four teams all wrapped up in that one.

A trade with the Lakers and Cavaliers.
