Brad was a miracle coach when Kyrie was not playing. Hmmm.

That’s not true they looked great before he got hurt and they looked good early

Since all this trade BS the team has changed for the worse.

It’s just lazy to look at Kyrie and say that’s the problem, but Tatum and Brown are not the same. Brown and smart went at it this week because Brown was playing selfish

Kyrie ain’t the problem the problem is they got a bunch of kids who pretty much understand the Celtics are just waiting for the offseason to trade them all and it’s destroyed that team.

I'm not saying the threat of being traded isn't an issue for a lot of the younger Celtics but Kyrie IS a problem there.

Idk according to pretty much every basketball talking head it’s you got a bunch of young guys playing for themselves and all thinking they deserve to be the man. Jalen brought it up when guys start getting mentioned in trade rumors it’s only natural to say screw it they don’t want me I’m gonna play for me.

Cause they looked really good before Kyrie got hurt and they looked really good earlier this year. Now not so much but honestly I think they’ll be alright come playoff time.

Also I'd like to think the Celtics are getting their due after luring Gordon Hayward away from the Jazz.

D wade is sure going out with a bang. Warriors come from 24 down, take the lead up 4. Wade hits a 3 to cut it to 1. They foul Durant makes 1-2. Wade then gets his first shot blocked by Durant, picks it up and banks in a 3 at the buzzer to win it. 5-7 on 3's tonight for Wade.

I knew Trae Young wouldn't have much trouble shooting in the NBA but I wondered how his playmaking would translate. He played with a bunch of nobodies in college and made them look decent for stretches so I guess that should have been enough of an indication that he would be ok in the NBA but I didn't think he'd be this good at both things so quickly, shooting and playmaking. With how he's been playing in Atlanta and how they've actually won some games recently it wouldn't surprise me if he's got the runner up spot locked in for Rookie of the Year right now.

Any chance of Doncic not winning ROY went out the window when he wasn't named an All-Star. I thought there was an outside chance he'd lose ROY because the press would give it to someone else because Doncic was already an All-Star but once he was passed over he became a lock, similar to how Goran became 3rd All-NBA Team because he was an All-Star snub.

I guess that means we'll have Young, Doncic, Jaren Jackson, Ayton, and someone else as the 1st Rookie Team whenever voting gets going. I don't think Ayton will be bumped from the 1st team, regardless of our record or his defense. Doncic, Jaren Jackson, and Young are rookies who have played really well most of the year so they'll also get the nod for 1st team. Bagley might also make it but that has more to do with the Kings than his individual play. He's looked good the last 2 months but started a little slow.

Your description was good but it sells the exchange short. I don't think there is a way to accurately write a summary of what happened to capture the 10 seconds of gameplay.

Kyrie Irving is crazy.

Anyone who believes the world is flat is displaying a level of paranoia and lack of critical thinking that I just cannot fathom. Of course he's become a problem in Boston... because if you believe in absurd global conspiracy involving millions of people for centuries then I suspect you're not one for self reflection or accountability.

How do you figure it could get any worse?

Haha....You guys are right about that. Just remember we used to think 50 and fade was bad. Wait until we have a 5 win season we will be wishing we were back to the good old days of 12 wins....

He was better than that. When the Warriors had a 2 for 1 situation Wade's defense was so good he forced a turnover. So the Warriors had at that point a tie game with a 2 for 1 and didn't even get a shot off. I know he doesn't do it every night anymore but last night he was vintage D Wade in that 2nd half.

FYI Dragic finished with I thnk 27, he 25 in 14 minutes in the first half, 20 of them in the 2nd quarter.

Sure it’s true. Last year’s playoff run was completely without Kyrie. And this team had problems from the get go this year—long before the trade talk. Tatum looked great last year with a different pg. The chemistry has not been right all year.

Yeah. That trade was not as bad as many made out. Long way to go though. But Trae is good. I really loved him. But he still would be a bad pairing with Booker. The defense would be horrendous. You have to build the right team around Trae.

I think it all depends on how the rest of the team is built. Denver, for example, starts Murray, Barton and Jokic and three are beyond awful defenders and yet they still have the 2nd best record in the West.

No hurt feelings for the Celtics at all.

I don't like the way the Celtics skimmed talent, Hayward, off the Jazz.

The Jazz would be a competitive playoff team if they had Hayward, Mitchell and Gobert.

how did the celtics do anything wrong there? He was a FA and didn't want to be on the Jazz anymore.

I didn't say the Celtics did anything wrong but the Jazz are a smaller market team. Simply did not like the way they recruited Hayward away from them. It's sort of the way the Lakers operate.

here's what's really bothering me about Ayton. I'm watching the young guys taken after him and to a man, Doncic, Young and Bagley are ALL on an upward trajectory from where they started the season. JJJ hasn't had as much of an upswing, but I considered him much rawer than everyone else in that top 5. But the three are all posting their best stats of the season this month. You know... what you would expect from rookies who get better as the season wears on.

Ayton on the other hand hasn't made much a progression at all. He came out of the gate pretty much at 16/10.5 (which was impressive) but after four months of ball... is still right at 16/10.5. It looked like he was starting to take solid steps forward in December, getting more touches, getting better on the boards (averaging 11.8 that month) and I don't think it's a coincidence that this team actually looked like it kinda belonged in the NBA that month.

But since then... he's gone right back to where he started the season and maybe regressed even a tiny bit.

My fear, as usual is two-fold... 1) he doesn't have the big dog in him to want to be great 2) we really don't have a coach who knows how to use him or motivate his ass to get to another level.

wha? Comparing the Celtics to the Lakers is really weird. What were the Celtics supposed to do with cap room that they positioned themselves for years? Nothing?

The Jazz developed Hayward into the star player he was only to see the Celtics go after him.

Although the Jazz remained classy through the ordeal but it obviously hurt the franchise.

It bothers me when teams like the Lakers and Celtics cherry pick stars off the roster of other teams.

okay... but doesn't blame belong on the PLAYER. I mean, it's not even like the Celtics are offering more money. Hayward wanted a better chance to win. Saw somewhere to do that. Took less money to make it happen.
