I knew Trae Young wouldn't have much trouble shooting in the NBA but I wondered how his playmaking would translate. He played with a bunch of nobodies in college and made them look decent for stretches so I guess that should have been enough of an indication that he would be ok in the NBA but I didn't think he'd be this good at both things so quickly, shooting and playmaking. With how he's been playing in Atlanta and how they've actually won some games recently it wouldn't surprise me if he's got the runner up spot locked in for Rookie of the Year right now.
Any chance of Doncic not winning ROY went out the window when he wasn't named an All-Star. I thought there was an outside chance he'd lose ROY because the press would give it to someone else because Doncic was already an All-Star but once he was passed over he became a lock, similar to how Goran became 3rd All-NBA Team because he was an All-Star snub.
I guess that means we'll have Young, Doncic, Jaren Jackson, Ayton, and someone else as the 1st Rookie Team whenever voting gets going. I don't think Ayton will be bumped from the 1st team, regardless of our record or his defense. Doncic, Jaren Jackson, and Young are rookies who have played really well most of the year so they'll also get the nod for 1st team. Bagley might also make it but that has more to do with the Kings than his individual play. He's looked good the last 2 months but started a little slow.
