Now there saying Pelicans want 4 first round picks

I imagine it's two firsts in 2019 and 2021 and 2 pick swap rights in 2020 and 2022. It's hard to imagine the Lakers being worse that the Pels in 2020 but injuries do happen and LeBron will start to decline soon.

Nice night for Bagley as the Kings beat the Spurs. I’m officially jealous of their improvement.

Buddy and Fox have flipped the page. I didnt' think they'd turn the corner on the their career, especially Hield.

He asked for a trade.
He might get injured while playing.
I'm sure the cast around him isn't too happy with him either.

Bad move by Davis imo.

Yeah. I think them making him sit out is interesting just because it seems the Pelicans are at least open to making a trade before the deadline...Or they are being NBA-twitter-level petty. Either way, an intriguing development imho

I think NO will trade him earlier rather than later. After all, injuries can happen. I am sure Cousins last moments on the court as a Pelican are still quite vivid in the minds of NOP brass.

Here's the interesting dilemma... I understand NO risk adverse take to sit their prized asset until they move him... BUT from an NBA level, he is a top 5 player being sat for no real NBA reason, so at what point does Silver step in and say no no no, you are hurting our product by sitting one of our best players, you HAVE to play him if he's healthy?

Not sure what the right answer is, but it's interesting.....

I don't think it's an issue for the league at the moment...If they don't trade him and keep him out after Thursday, then it would become a real issue. But I doubt they do that.

Completely agreed at the. moment, I was mentioning that scenario assuming he wouldn't be moved by Thursday, what would the Pelicans do then?

You have to play him at that point. Besides...it turns out guys with massive contracts can get hurt just staying at home now!

Talk about a nightmare for the Wizards!

Wow that's terrible. But the guy's making millions and so is the franchise.

Trade Davis before he gets injured would be the wise move. Rushing into the Lakers junk wouldn't be wise. I'm sure there are better offers if they wait. Davis should have no say on where he'd like to go, the team receiving Davis takes all the risk in acquiring him.

I'd wait until the season is over and take my chances. Injury or not the Pelicans are going to have to rebuild.

My take is that the league can't reasonably say anything other than the Pelicans are depriving ticket-buyers on the road from seeing AD. Also, Silver may well be taking a lot of calls from owners right now saying, "You gotta help me with these agents and players taking away our bargaining power and possibly colluding."

But either way, the injury risk is real: no one expects a major injury in any game, but if one happens, all of the trade scenarios being discussed are out the window. New Orleans is negotiating with the Lakers and others, possibly Boston on the down-low, right now: they should protect their asset while they do it.

What do you mean? The league did exactly that with Popovich and the Spurs a few years ago.

I’m not so sure the Pelicans should have declined this offer if true. Literally strips the Lakers of all their young and good players and kills their cap space with that Hill contract.

As the Pelicans, you dont accept the offer with 2 days to spare. You wait to see if anything more can prosper by then. Even by then you still dont have to trade AD. There's still the draft to come as well.

I am all for sticking it to the Lakers, but this is silly. They are literally offering you every young player worth a damn, they are taking a crap contract from you, and you get picks. Honestly, doing this trade would stick it to them better than not trading Davis. James and Davis surrounded by G-Leaguers and a has-been or two aren't making the playoffs, let alone competing for a championship.

Lakers would still have enough for another max player though? LeBron + AD + another.

He did it when Pop was resting players for the playoffs. I don't think they would say anything when a player is in the process of being traded. They did not say anything about Bledsoe not playing during the hair styling fiasco.

I think the Pelicans would be smart to take the deal now rather than in the summer.
