My opinion is this:

The dysfunctionality of this situation has only just begun.

The effort stinks and the team is undisciplined. That is on the coaches and the leaders of this team.

The coach isn't going to change no matter what the fans want. He just got a GIANT extension, the biggest payout to a Cardinals coach ever. No way the Bidwill's will fire him heading into a potential lockout.

So we are at least 1 more year with Whis.

I don't see the leadership on this team.

Fitz is the anti Quan. Riding around on his Segway during camp to his legions of adoring fans. Talking about how hard it is for him to stay focused and positive.

Dockett is a goofy guy who tapes himself naked in the shower and talks about taking a crap on twitter. He seems to take the game serious, but do any of his teammates take him serious?

Adrian Wilson is a quiet guy who used to his talking on the field.

That's your highest paid guys. That's your leaders.

So hopefully Whis can be the coach the optomists see because otherwise next year is going to be putrid as well.

And you know what happens then? He gets fired with millions on his contract and we go back to coaches on the cheap. The only lesson ownership is going to learn from this is that paying big for a coach regardless of past success is probably going to bite you in the ass.

Sad...

I don't mind the debating, just leave the "gay" stuff out. I am guilty of using it inappropriately myself.

Whiz may do the opposite of what we think, He always has.

Fitz is a great football player but the ball has to be thrown in the same hemisphere. Beanie should be a core player but he's being nutted to see how he responds.

DRC is a core player along with AW and DD on defense. DWASH and DWILL should be able to earn it.

I say the key to this football team is not the non-existant core but the lunchpail guys.

Deuce, Lyle, Breaston, Hayes, Levi, rhodes, CC, Branch, Paris,

We need oodles of 3-4 OLB after all , they have been a priority for 4 years and chike and Berry before that.

Whiz can save this, If this season doesn't cause him to shake up his staff and get back to fundementally sound football, nothing will. How will Whiz respond?

I still got my hands over the tinder blowing hard, but in all honesty unless He starts making major changes soon, by the end of this year, Ownership worth their salt would look elsewhere.

It's amazing that some here thought that losing your hall of fame QB, the heart and soul of the team, and your best defensive player would not affect things. It's hard as hell to win in this league, and damn near impossible if your qb isn't elite. We have the worst qb's in football and nearly the worst defense? What do people expect?

Some? Almost everybody here thought it wouldn't affect things enough to even lose the division. Heck, with the exception of Warner most people here said we wouldn't miss any of the guys who left.

We didn't expect to have much at QB but we also didn't expect the QBs to be this horrific, or to have nearly the worst defense in the league, or be dead last in rushing attempts.

Well we are definitely the "same old ASFN" to go with our same old Cardinals. Optomists and pessimists taking their frustrations out on each other.

Sad.

ha... it can't be "the same old ASFN" when I'm one of the optimists!

Dont buy it. There was good effort across the board in that Ram game just last week. The QB play killed it nothing more or less.

Agreed. They were showing effort on Sunday. Which I found SHOCKING after the team almost as a whole mailed it in on MNF against the freaking 9ers.

my favorite moment of the game was moments earlier when Campbell slid off Steven Jackson after he apparently lubed his entire body up with bacon grease right before hand. good thing that kid learned how to wrap up after last season!

However, CC made a great effort to come 2/3rds of the way across the field to get to Jackson. Meanwhile the defenders on the left side of the defense where Jackson was running were all falling all over themselves to get out of the way or being mauled by a Rams blocker.

To continue to highjack the thread:

Calais Campbell has always been able to make a terrific effort to get to the QB or ball carrier when no body else on the defense can and then more often than not miss the tackle.

He did that as a rookie and apparently is still doing it now.

So what that tells me is there is some physical limitation, because he's 6'8" maybe, or that our defensive coaching is deficient. Given the current state of our defense with 4 former pro bowl players starting and still ranking at the bottom of the NFL I'd give the nod to the coaching deficiency.

Thats no indication of quitting. Thats the norm for DRC.

Well the guy either quit on the play or it's the norm and it continues to be tolerated. Either way it reflects pretty piss-poorly on the coaching staff.

Actually I dont think it reflects on the coaching staff much at all. Its the norm and a constant with DRC. It is just his mental make up and one of those you are just going to have to deal with him. Hes soft both phyically and mentally. Some things coaching just can't fix.

As an example you have a guy like Mike Adams who is a munchkin compared to DRC has the same coaching staff and has zero problem making a hard tackle or getting his nose in the mix.

I totally disagree... would Belichek, Parcells, Cowher, Tomlin, Payton or even Shanahan accept that type of weakness??
It's about the type of team you as a HC want to be. The Cards have been known as a soft team for decades. And all that softness was only able to be overcome by a future HOF quarterback. So, I guess if we can stumble upon another future HOF Qb, we're good. Otherwise, it would be a wise move by Whiz to stop accepting the status quo of softness and actually do something about it. Based upon DRC's total lack of effort and willingness to tackle, if it were me, I'd bench his ass until he proves he's ready to actually play football. Keeping him in as starter certainly hasn't done much and with only 4 games left and only playing for draft position, now is the time to make this type of statement... or not.

I think having soft players, guys quitting on plays, and IMO the worst part tolerating it all reflect horribly on the coaching staff. Especially when that coach is the guy that brought that player in in the first place.

That play on the Jackson run was as blatant and clear cut of a benchable offense you will ever find in an NFL game. How does something like that happen in the first place, and worse yet how in the world is it the norm and continue to be tolerated? Bench the guy. Its not like he shutting anyone down or even in the very least not constantly getting burned right?

Rudy Adams does play very hard, you are right. He regulary sticks his nose in there with the big boys and gives max effort. How do you think he feels when he watches the film of that play? What kind of message does that send to the team as a whole?
