Trying to look for positives shouldnt be considered blindly following the front office. For me, sports, the NFL in particular is an escape. Relaxing. To sit back and NOT be optimistic is out of the question. WHy then, would I continue to follow this team? I may be wrong in my optimism, but I feel worse for those who seem to THRIVE only complaining and wailing, and gnashing their teeth. Because you seem to only be happy being miserable.

Im acutely aware of this teams history (at least since 88). I will go into every year thinking "this is the year" and I will never apologize for it.

I don't believe you should apologize for it. You also shouldn't criticize others for voicing their opinion because it is not the same as yours. Many people here including myself have been fans for a long long time. The observations good and bad are all part of being a fan. This is the same in any city for any team in any sport.

Funny enough, I just got a call on my cell phone from a Cards rep asking me to purchase season tickets. LOL, I told him am 30+ year fan and 4th generation Cardinals fan and I buy tickets to 1 to 2 games per year becuase I live in SOCAL...But I also said I will not be doing that until they put a good product on the field, learn how to keep a team together, and stop cutting off their nose to spite their face.

I am sure Mr B will not miss a person not attending 1 or 2 games a year. It's is the season ticket holders money that might hold some weight. But as I told my wife everyone of these moves were very perdictable.

Im a fan but not quite a fanatic. I am here to enjoy the ride, good or bad and love the team regardless.

Once upon a time I was a fanatic, had to step back one day and ask myself why.

That's exactly what I did. Although I reserve the right to be fanatical from time to time. :D

I think many of us have been there. :) I know I have. The Cards losing a game would ruin my whole week back in the day. (No wonder I was depressed, lol.) But, at some point, you gotta say "it's just a game, Focker."

I can understand why LC doesn't want to invest hours of his life driving to another state and sitting in a stadium watching what he feels is a sub par product, only to spend more hours driving back to his home state. And I am sure he didn't just come to this conclusion because of FA. I would guess it was a combination of factors and these past few days have just pushed him over the edge. You obviously can be a fan and still root for this team without investing all that time and money, and it sounds like that's what LC is going to do.

I picked this team back in '88 and, like most of you guys, I am in it for the long haul. I am not thrilled with all the change, and I personally can't see this team being competitive next year. But, free agency just started and we still have the draft coming up so who knows? I am not super happy, but I am still totally in.

On a side note, remember that questioning fandom is not allowed on this site, so fight nice.

I have to say, free agency makes the price of ASFN admission the best deal on the internet - and that's saying something with all those darn lol-catz all over the place for free.

That being said, being insane (like myself) is the best way to approach the Cardinals. Year after year I watch what's going on with stunned amazement, only to decide that it's all going to work out somehow. We fans are the Flounders of the NFL (the Animal House one, not the cute little best friend in The Little Mermaid, for those of you with kids) where we trust the same guys who totally screwed up our brother's new car, only to discover they're about to do something worse - like turning it into a Deathmobile.

Yet if one of us says something along the lines of "Hey! I'm not sure I can take this insanity anymore," we turn on them like desertdawg attacking a Taco Bell after midnight. We need some kind of "safety" word like they have in S&M (don't ask me how I know this). Some way to say we need a time out from the pain, so we can regroup and do it all over again.

Anyway, sorry to have digressed. Thanks to everyone for bleeding red all over these pages. I am lucky to not be smart enough to know just how awful all these recent changes are going to turn out, so I'll just keep on watching the train wreck unfold, blissful in my ignorance until the next 5-11 season is posted. :)

Just choose you fights wisely - if you are going to question someone's fandom, challenge them to a schoolyard fight at the halftime of a Cards' home game. No risk. You know already that they aren't going to show. :D

Dude drives six to eight hours to come to games, and then another six to eight hours back. Many of you should show similar commitment to supporting this team. This organization hasn't shown that it's made its case that they're going to be good, or trying to be better in 2013.

I do the same, and will probably do it 1 or 2 times next year again... regardless of how bad they are. Just habit, I guess, inured*.

For me, driving to a game is driving from Colorado, so I can say that I won't be doing that this year. I don't think this makes me any less of a fan, I'm just not going to take time and money away from my family to see a subpar product. I still spend on Sunday ticket though if the season is as poor as last year I might DVR the games and watch them after the kiddos go to bed. Tough for me to justify passing up playing catch outside when the Cards can't score more than 6 points.

What is funny is that my oldest always asks how the Cardinals are doing during the game. If I say we are winning, he likes to sit down and cheer them on. If they are losing, he says he is going to play with his legos in his room. Little guy knows Daddy gets a little crazy when it comes to the Cardinals.

Bloody hell fellas!

I think some of you are missing the point about being a fan! A Cards fan at that! Are you telling me you have stuck around for this long and this is really the straw that broke the camels back? I could think of 100 worse Cardinal moments that would tip the scales and make you jack the whole lot in.

Keep calm and carry on.

Still love you all, you grumpy blighters. :billthecat:

It seems to me that they are going a similar route as the colts last year. They had a massive turnover last offseason and are already competing for the playoffs. Yes they do have Luck and he is going to very good, but he wasn't exactly phenominal this year.

What was LIAC crying about with this post? Any move or lack of a move specifically, or just general crying? I'm too lazy to go back and figure it out.
