The Colangelos' are addicted to trading and the worst thing about it is that Brian absolutely sucks at it. They have steadfastly gone from being one of the classiest and sharpest organizations in all of sports to being on the same level as the Clippers. They continually trade down. No high caliber player is going to sign with them as a free agent because they don't have the talent level to be competitive. They only have one marquee player in which to trade for another and that's Amare. At some point they'll trade him for a group of average players. Forget any trade for MacGrady or Shaq. The Suns, like the D-Backs are imploding all because of the Colangelos' need for trading. They can't help themselves.

According to every single source out there the Phoenix Suns are trying to get Tracy McGrady. If he really doesn't want to come here there is nothing they can do about it. Still, I think that hardly constitutes trading down every time.

For years, when the Suns were The Only Game In Town, Jerry hung in there with his 50-and-fade teams.

As Phoenix sports grew, Jerry reached his level of incompetence.

He's shown himself to be The Man Without A Plan. Instead of counting his money and turning the Suns and D'backs over to talented GM's, he surrounded himself with sons -- his and Joe Garagiola's -- inexperienced errand boys.

And he still won't let go. Three more years with the Suns. Seven more years with the D'backs.

guys this uncall for in the extreme. JC who still makes the overall chooses on this team is 3 time ex of the year and a hall of famer and his son who was raised to do this job. to say that he doesnt know what he is doing is just showing how little we understand of the business of basketball. over the past 35 years the suns have had one of the top winning % in the nba. the dbacks have won a championship. it sounds like the suns management has some idea of what they are doing. so dry up.

About time, I was getting worried the BC would NEVER show up! Glad to see your consistent though... :p

The Suns have continually been on a downgrade ever since they lost to the Bulls in the Finals. Their talent level has gotten worse with almost every trade. The only positive trade they've made was getting Jason Kidd and they downgraded his position with Marbury. Because of Kidds personal life which he had improved. Ever since Jerry had the D-Backs in his sights, Bryan has been running the show. They've now cleared all of this cap space and they are going to field another pathetic team. They are not going to land any marquee free agents and they won't get T-Mac without giving up Amare. They just might do it.

About three years ago the Suns won 55 games, but got beat in the playoffs. They had been to playoffs almost every year, but were no where close to being a contender. The Colangelos made a conscious decision to start over and build a team from scratch that could actually win it all.

That was a huge shift in their former style of trying to stay in the playoffs but nver improve. Will it work? Who knows? But to compare what they are doing to the prior history misses the key point that they really are trying something different.
