Stole a point but the results haven't matched the play yet. The turnovers we saw in the first few games have largely been eliminated so I think they will turn the corner, but there isn't a whole lot of time for them to figure it out.

Agreed - they just couldn't get it past Dubnyk. Schlemko and Doan have to hit the net on their breakaways. Particularly Schlemko - he had a wide open net and missed it high!

Hmm, Smith looked pretty average tonight as the Yotes get a point but fall 4-3 in the shootout loss. Same two teams tomorrow night in Glendale.

Hanzal was back and played well (2 goals). Still no Sullivan or Klesla. Lombardi will still be out a while.

I thought Smith played better than before. The Dallas goals were not easy ones. They need to win tonight to get something going. Also, Chad Johnson was sent to Portland and the Coyotes called up Andy Miele.

Smith has played well the past two games (shutout vs Dallas on Saturday, 2-1 victory tonight over Wild tonight). Unfortunately it looks like Schlemko will be out a while with a shoulder. Defense was pretty sloppy at times, but that happens as the pairings change with the injury. Goals scored by Korpi and Hanzal.

True, but it was a good win against a good team. Hopefully the preseason is over and they can play coyote hockey

Big test tonight. Hawks are playing well and it's the first time Chicago has faced Torres since he took out Hossa in the playoffs. Usually a big contingent of Hawks fans at the Job, also. Lot's of bad blood should make for a very entertaining game.

I think that team that controls their emotions best takes the two points.

I'm pretty fired up now that I scored some tix!!!

I guess no one wanted to comment on that steaming pile last night...

6-2 Hawks, and it wasn't even *that* close.

Yandle needs to be traded, he's been playing so bad.

If he's playing so bad, why would anyone want him??

This team is insanely Schitzo right now. Hammered by the Hawks (home) and then shut out the Sharks (road).

Has anyone noticed the schedule w/ Aneheim in early March?
Is that crazy or what? Three straight games - 2 home, 1 away. that could be a huge point for both teams PO chances.

Then later in March two straight in LA. Crazy scheduling for the short season.

Coyotes win in overtime at Colorado as Doan scores his second goal of the night. Thanks to the ref's skate. :)

Seriously.
WTF was Tampa Bay thinking.

How in the heck do let a guy like Mike Smith go?

Just heard in my hockey game that he had a 54 shot shutout?

Ridiculous. All I remember of the guy from when he was playing in the east was he had some crazy passing skills

Coyotes win last night and tonight. Smith gets the shutout tonight as they beat Calgary 4-0. Great turnout tonight as it looked like the place was sellout.

Not only that, he was in TB's minor league system before being let go. The Coyotes seem to be unusually good with reclamation project goaltenders.

Holy $hit stat of the day, from ktar:

The Yotes are 105-13-5 under Tippet when scoring first.

That's a system that work Whiz.

And now for whatever reason they just can't stop dropping points. 3 in 2 days.

That was the classic "Stealing defeat from the jaws of victory" example. Flames score twice on WIDE OPEN shots in the last 1:30 to win 5-4. Ugh!!

Wacky officiating probably gave the Ducks an unearned point, but what a fun game to watch. Even if the Coyotes swept the next two games they'd still be 5 points behind in the division, but they'll never get a better chance to close the gap.

LA is the one that concerns me in the division. They have 2 games in hand over the Yotes and could easily bump them out of a PO spot.

Steven Berthiaume is a good luck charm for the Coyotes. He comes on the air with Phoenix down 1-0 and he leaves with them up 2-1 in the 2nd period. Maybe that will be a good sign for the Diamondbacks.

It's Groundhog Day as the Coyotes beat the Ducks again 5-4 in a shootout.
