OMFG!

I am too stoked for this...I am doomed for a let down...

I thought I was going to be let down with The Dark Knight. My hopes were so high, I didn't think it could possibly live up to my expectations.

TDK was so good, I thought it was the best movie in a decade. I have tried to lessen expectations so I don't expect another movie of the decade in 2012.

Was it me or did Bane not have a Spanish accent? If that's the case then I hope Nolan burns in hell. Bad enough to make Bane into a pipsqueek(compared to Bane in the comics) but to make him not from South America is just too much to take.
It was just you.

wiki said:
Bane was born in the fictional Caribbean Republic of Santa Prisca, in a prison called Peña Dura ("Hard Rock"). His father Edmund Dorrance had been a revolutionary and had escaped Santa Prisca's court system. The corrupt government however decreed that his young son would serve out the man's life sentence, and thus Bane's childhood and early adult life are spent in the amoral penitentiary environment.[3][4] Though imprisoned, his natural abilities allow him to develop extraordinary skills within the prison's walls. He reads as many books as he can get his hands on, builds up his body in the prison's gym, and learns to fight in the merciless school of prison life. Despite his circumstances, he finds teachers of various sorts during his incarceration, ranging from hardened convicts to an elderly Jesuit priest, under whose tutelage he apparently receives a classical education. Bane murders this priest upon his return to Santa Prisca years later. However, he commits his first murder at the age of eight, stabbing a criminal who wanted to use him to gain information about the prison.[4] During his years in prison, Bane carries a teddy bear he calls Osito (Spanish for "little bear"), whom he considers his only friend.[5] It is revealed that Osito has a hole in his back to hold a knife that Bane uses against anyone who bullies him.[3][4]
Bane ultimately establishes himself as the "king" of Peña Dura prison. The prison's controllers take note and eventually force him to become a test subject for a mysterious drug known as Venom,[4] which had killed all other subjects; the drug is administered by a doctor who bears a passing resemblance to another Batman foe, Dr. Hugo Strange. Later, in Vengeance of Bane II the very same doctor encounters Bane again in Gotham and it can be confirmed that it is not Hugo Strange, who at that point in Batman continuity was a crazed psychologist and not a surgeon.[4] The Peña Dura prison Venom experiment nearly kills Bane at first, but he survives and finds the drug vastly increasing his physical strength, although he needs to take it every 12 hours (via a system of tubes pumped directly into his brain) or he would suffer debilitating side-effects.[3][4]

Also, how big would have Bane be? CGI-big? yuck.

Um, your quoting the comic description of Bane and how it appears this movie is portraying him are polar opposites. You may be OK with Bane being an averaged sized guy but some of us who are true Batman fans are not.

Christopher Nolan Won't Make Major Changes To Bane's Voice In 'Dark Knight Rises'

http://splashpage.mtv.com/2011/12/20/christopher-nolan-bane-voice-dark-knight-rises/

After fans returned from screenings of the six-minute prologue for "The Dark Knight Rises" claiming that they couldn't understand Bane, Warner Bros. began to panic. According to the Hollywood Reporter, one rep reportedly working on the film said he was "scared to death" about the "Bane problem."

As a result, the studio reportedly reached out to Nolan, hoping he would alter the film's sound mix, thus making Bane easier to understand. An exec told the Hollywood Reporter that Nolan does plan on changing the mix, but only slightly. The idea is to keep the audience involved and engaged by struggling to understand Bane.

"Chris wants the audience to catch up and participate rather than push everything at them. He doesn't dumb things down," THR quotes their source. "You've got to pedal faster to keep up."

Great. This will go soooo well with my conversational hearing loss :sarcasm:

...and, seriously? You're throwing down the "I'm not a true fan" bs about THIS? Ok.

this is incredibly stupid. I'm as big of a Chris Nolan fan as there is, but this is just flat out hubris. I seriously couldn't understand 75% of what he was saying in the prologue. that's a problem.

His point was that in the trailer, it does not sound as though Bane has an accent when he should have one.

His gripe is the lack of accent in the movie.

Just FYI - Pariah is one of the biggest comic geeks on the board.

Calling out Pariah's comic geekdom is like saying BIM isn't a Star Wars nut...or that Stoudt is a patient person...or that cheesebeef isn't a jackass...or that Shane is a decent human being.

I haven't seen the prologue yet, but I completely agree. Saying that making Bane actually audible is "dumbing things down" is absurd.

What is it with Nolan and voices? He allowed Bale to go overboard with the grunting voice in the last Batman and now you can't understand Bane?

I am a huge Nolan fan but this excuse sounds like damage control to me. Horrible explanation!!!!

If there is one singularly important technical aspect of a film that is truly necessary, other than being able to see what's happening, is to be able to hear what's being said!

I'm willing to give it a chance even if you can't understand anything Bane says. His movies are so dark I'm lucky if I can see a third of what's happening so if I get to hear half of the dialogue I figure I'm lucky. I'll admit though that I wish someone would make an action movie that could be both seen and heard. Hey Hollywood, us middle aged and older folks like movies too, you know.

dude... i held a lot of the same fears you did about Bane because a) I'm not that big a fan of the character and b) Hardy (while great in Inception) hadn't really had a tour de force performance that I had seen (haven't seen Bronson where he's supposed to be a monster).

But, I just got back from seeing Warrior and HOLY ****... any and all fears that the new Batman movie might be a little weak because Bane is the main bad guy have VANISHED from my brain. Tom Hardy was INSANELY scary and good in Warrior... add that type of performance to a whatever the hell Nolan's got up his sleeve for Bain, and he will CRUSH in this movie.

See it. It's his tour de force performance. One of the most INCREDIBLE acting performances I have seen from anyone ever. It's on the same level as Ledger's Joker.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Opening Night IMAX Versions Already Sold Out In NYC, LA

http://www.deadline.com/2012/01/ope...dark-knight-rises-already-sold-out-in-nyc-la/

Talk about advance planning. A handful of IMAX theaters that screened the special 6-minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol thought it would be a good idea to sell TDKR/IMAX opening night tickets. According to a Warner Bros exec, advance ticket sales are left to the discretion of the theaters. The result? Thursday July 19 midnight shows for The Dark Knight Rises: The IMAX Experience have already sold out at New York’s AMC Loews Lincoln Square theater. The AMC Loews Universal City cineplex in Los Angeles has sold out all seats and all but two wheelchair slots, according to seating charts for advance sales via Fandango.

I love the way it is silent and slowly builds up. I don't think they gave up too much and didn't bombard me with every special effect in the movie.

really? as much as i can't wait to see this, i continue to be underwhelmed by the trailers. probably a good thing i guess.

I think the excitement for these trailers and teasers comes from the fact that The Dark Knight was just so MF'ing good that any tidbit or morsel having to do with the next film gets associated with it's greatness.

I personally learned a very hard lesson in expectations for a sequel with Star Trek V, but it's very hard me not to just flip-out when I see anything (legit) having to do with The Dark Knight Rises.

yeah... and i guess I was just so ridiculously blown away by every single thing associated with TDK from the viral campaign to the first teaser, to the trailers and then the movie was so awesome, that this is all, just leaving me wanting more.

it's a solid trailer, but i've just yet to be wowed. doesn't mean it's not the number one movie i've been dying to see for four years.

OK, so trailer looks decent and I might be jumping to conclusions but Nolan appears to be making the same tired mistake of past Batman films.

I am so sick and tired of bad guys finding out who Batman is. It's tired, overused and just stupid. Bane appears to be in the Bat Cave and holding Batman's mask. It appears he finds out who Batman is and where he is.

This is going to really piss me off, last film of a trilogy or not. Maybe there is a logical explanation and I am drawing the wrong conclusion. If not, this movie already has a strike against it for me even if the intent was to bring this version of Batman to a close. Historically, this is always followed up with said bad guy getting amnesia or dying at the end.

Like I sad tired, overused and totally unnecessary.

The part that has my expectations lowered a bit is the hero disappears, bad guy creates havoc, people wonder if the hero is ever going to return to save us plot.
I've seen it way too much and don't really look forward to seeing it again.
