Yes but Bane is supposed to be huge.

dude... i held a lot of the same fears you did about Bane because a) I'm not that big a fan of the character and b) Hardy (while great in Inception) hadn't really had a tour de force performance that I had seen (haven't seen Bronson where he's supposed to be a monster).

But, I just got back from seeing Warrior and HOLY ****... any and all fears that the new Batman movie might be a little weak because Bane is the main bad guy have VANISHED from my brain. Tom Hardy was INSANELY scary and good in Warrior... add that type of performance to a whatever the hell Nolan's got up his sleeve for Bain, and he will CRUSH in this movie.

happy to be underwhelmed again by new images. anything to keep dampening my excitement of this film will only help in the long run.

word is that this film takes place 8 years after The Dark Knight and Batman's pretty much at the end of his rope, having been run down for years... interesting angle to play jumping that far ahead of time.

Ya, looks like Batman has been reduced to shining flashlights at people and making laser noises.

I like the way you put that...happy to be underwhelmed. My expectations for this film need a good deflating.

Setting the film 8+ years in the future give it some interesting potential plot devices...perhaps a melding of Knightfall references (in flashback) leading into elements of Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns, with a final confrontation with Bane as the climax of Bruce Wayne's opus of redemption.

Holy Christ, did I just nerd-out or what?

it wouldn't surprise me to see Nolan screw with time in the movie, via flashbacks and what not. with Memento and Inception, if the guy's proven anything (and personally, I think he's proven EVERYTHING as this generation's go to Director for incredible mainstream big picture cinema) the guy is an absolute master of manipulating time and place within a movie.

i also wonder if this is really true and we are skipping 8 years into the future, if we end up seeing who and what Batman has stopped in those eight years... maybe we get glimpses of him stopping baddies like the Penguin, Riddler, etc. probably not... but who knows what the hell Nolan's got up his sleeve for this sucker.

I think it will be hard to even come close to "The Dark Knight". Still I'm hoping for the best.

No mention of Azrael? You, sir, are what nerds call a "poser."

Bale already had the stipulation that he would not do another Batman (after Dark Knight) if there was going to be a Robin...Azrael was tutored by Robin before he took over the mantle from a broken Bruce Wayne...since you can't have him just appear out of nowhere (canonically speaking), you can't have Azrael.

Hence, no mention of Azrael, in terms of the next film.

Especially considering that the Robin who helped tutor Azrael to take up the mantel of Batman was Tim Drake. There are 2 other Robins before Drake. Personally I think Nolan missed the boat by not making Hush a main villain as that story is tailor made for a Nolan type movie. As for Bane, smh.

Unlike the crappy Spider-man poster, Chris Nolan does it right. This is a completely bad-ass poster.

this is the bootleg but legit 2nd trailer. Wow, this movie looks freaking DARK.

http://nerdbastards.com/2011/12/15/more-batman-buttvision-video-the-dark-knight-rises-trailer-2/

me thinks this will be no Jedi with Ewoks or Spidey 3 with Emo Peter. Still not in love with Bane as the vilain choice, but this movie looks like it's gonna be pretty damn powerful.

Still... such a shame that Ledger OD'd... his Joker was legendary and all the trailers for TDK weren't just dripping with awesome, they looked genuinely fun as well. This movie... yeah... it looks like there's ZERO fun to be had.

i mean... this trailer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ5U8suTUw0

just makes me want to go watch TDK right now. That movie really was the perfect storm. insanely good marketing/viral campaign, probably the most iconic comic book villain, awesome trailer plus Ledger's death and the movie... lived up to the hype.

TDKR just looks... bleak. Which could be GREAT, but i just think there's no way it approaches The Dark Knight when all's said and done.

Was it me or did Bane not have a Spanish accent? If that's the case then I hope Nolan burns in hell. Bad enough to make Bane into a pipsqueek(compared to Bane in the comics) but to make him not from South America is just too much to take.
