At first I thought he was going about his first FA stint with dignity & handled it properly, only to let it turn into a three ring circus full of deceit & underhandedness......best I can come up with....

Can't be upset with the guy, he is looking for the best situation. Nothing wrong with that.

Unless he goes to niners. Then I hope we stomp him into the ground.

Yeah, I have something mean to say: grow the f up an stop acting like a jilted girlfriend. So Manning didn't pick AZ--he didn't do it to be mean.

WTH?? He made the best decision for his career. No harm in that. So we didn't get picked. So we don't carry as much clout as Denver or San Fran. Welcome to what the rest of the league already knows about this franchise.

I don't think we were rejected per se, I think that our timeline didn't fit his timeline. We probably asked him for a decision by today and he was unable to provide that. I can't fault him for that, it was our timeline.

I love the hell out of Manning and he's one of my all time favorite players.

I will implode if he goes to SF though. I might swallow my tounge.

It's not Peyton's fault that the media won't shut up. He's been very low key and quiet. He has every right to take his time making his decision, it's a big decision for the guy. I don't hate Peyton for this, just hate ESPN twice as much for their baseless speculation and sensationalism.

I never thought we would get him and don't care very much. I'm mostly ambivalent towards him, however, I can't help but think he kind of enjoyed being wined and dined and flown all over hell, and being the first story on sportscenter for a week or so. Contrast this with all the bad press of the last few months, begging to get into the last game. Having a freakin noodle arm of all things. A noodle arm? It still makes me laugh. It is what it is. I hope he doesn't end up on the Niners is all.

So taking your time and making sure that you put yourself in the right situation deserves being called a d-bag?

Edit: If anything, be pissed at the Cardinals for not cutting Kolb loose so they could keep themselves alive. If the ONLY reason Manning didn't sign here today was because of Kolb, well, then that's 100% on the Cards. And it's typical of them. If Manning were still interested - just being thorough and looking at all of his options - and you backed out because of Kevin Freakin' Kolb then you didn't deserve to land Manning in the first place.

Of course there's probably much more to it.

I suggest alcohol or meds... or better still, a combination of both.

I'd love to see him get to a Super Bowl and lose to us - or his brother. :D

Everybody and their grandma knows Kolb had nothing to do with Peyton not coming here. Public knowledge was the Cards would cut ties with Kolb, most likely in Cardinal fashion meaning zero compensation (no trades/draft picks for him). Cardinals did everything they could (just shy of getting a respectable O-line) to land Manning. They are gonna move on, Manning is gonna move on, Kolb's gonna move on. But IMO it was the O-line we lack, if I were to guess, neck injuries and the second most sacks allowed the last 2 years doesn't go well. Then again, neither do concussions and this O-line.

Now, see, that's a sentiment I can get behind. I'm just competitively vindictive enough that I'd love to teach him in a Super Bowl just why he should have chosen the Cards. But, I don't fault him for the way he's handled this nor do I hate him for whatever his decision ultimately turns out to be.

Language may be a bit coarse, but let's just say I didn't like the way the Mannings handled the whole process. I also feel that the lack of news coming out of Cardinal Hq compared to the other teams made us look weak and in over our heads.

You can make the case that "all is fair" in competition for FA's but I still feel played and screwed because the perception at least, was that there were certain ground rules and those ground rules were tossed in the trash bin when Tenn and SF made their late appearances onto the scene. Fair or unfair - I just didn't like the aroma. That's how I feel, so sue me.

I think PM is a classy guy; I don't know how anyone who may be the biggest FA of all time could have handled it better. He kept his mouth shut, and is going about his business securing the best deal he can on what is probably his last contract. All the angst in this was caused by idiot journalists and tweeters who troll message boards for story ideas.

I will still love watching the guy play. He would have made a great combination QB/OL coach for us; the first time one of our blockers made a bonehead play he would have been in their face. A field general like him is just what we need.
