Hold onto the ball, Murray!

Well played, sir. Well played.

RedLine, you're acting like the release happened in a vacuum. Newsome gets the benefit of the doubt because he built a Super Bowl champion and his team was in the playoffs last season. BTW: he did all that not as "General Manager", but as VP Football Operations, which was the same title that Rod Graves held the past 5 years.
We'd all be wearied by the long list of the crimes that Rod Graves has committed against the Arizona Cardinals and their fan base. I won't repeat it here. For all of that, the Cards have performed one game better than the Millen-lead Detroit Lions franchise. You act like the Cards are the only old-school franchise in the NFL, but the Bills, Steelers, and Bengals have all managed to maintain their traditions while not putting an embarrassing product on the field. Why do you think that is?
Are you a shrubber?
Since I have no idea what a shrubber is, let me ask. Is this a compliment or a put down?
You should watch the movie.
No. We'd all be wearied to the point of tears, having you confuse crimes with misdeameanors.
nothin' like hitting a man when he can't respond.
bannedWhy can't he????
Ooops!
(PM me why... if you know)
well played!:winkwinknudgenudgeknowwhatimean:
Now we see the "same 'ol, same 'ol" results of retaining Graves. I'm just surprised that some fans were surprised by this admission of failure.
Jeff, how do you know it’s Graves?
Nobody here knows how much power Graves wielded each year, or what limitations he has had to work under. I just don’t believe it’s right to attack a man for things that you don’t actually know are under his control. If you work for me and you screw up, I will call you out. But if you work for someone else, I will let your boss know, it’s not for me to decide if you did your job.
I am not a Graves apologist. But I do believe he has been instrumental in helping to bring the Bidwill’s and Cards into the modern era of professional NFL teams that we all want to see. Michael took care of getting the stadium done, Graves took an ever increasing role in managing the team, we have what looks to be an excellent new coach, and now they are working together. I think we will start seeing the results of that this year. Go Cards!
I would argue that is the point. In most good NFL teams it's very clear what the responsibilities of the GM are. Most teams have scouts, coaches and GM's and they all get together and brainstorm, but in the end there is typically going to be one guy who has the final say.
IN dallas for years it was Jimmy Johnson, with the Patriots I guess it was Pioli (?). The fact that hardcore Cards fans who spend hours talking about cutting the #3 Center, have no idea what Graves responsibilities actually are/were, tells you something?
