Rise from the Ashes III
First, your assuming that I've read every quote by Whis since the Steeler game. Which I'm sure I haven't, but the stuff that's been on the official site was nothing more than "I was pleased" type of coach speak. Pretty much in line with what I fell. Yes, it's good that Leinart settled down and completed some passes. But when the head coach specifically points to a play it speaks volumes.Typical defense mechanism from you,
As far as my defense mechanism, I can't help but feel compelled to try and clarify what I'm trying to say since people very quickly "figure out" that I HATE Matt Leinart. I'm almost convinced that some people just respond after seeing my avatar. Ol' crazy moklerman's posting, insert Warner/cult/Leinart hater response <here>".
Not sure why people are debating you about the throw to Boldin, it was a horrible throw no if ands or buts about it.
All of what you said is true but the point is that was an interception that could(should?) have gone on his statline further diminishing his 74 rating for the day. He was in no way statistically excellent and could easily have been worse. Which is basically fine, especially if you're happy with where Leinart is at right now. You just want him to not get hurt if he doesn't have anything to prove. But to say that he had an "excellent" game is really stretching it.As for the pass interference call...
It's possible but I think it's rationalizing to say that Leinart lost out to Warner just because Warner's great. There's no way the Cardinals wanted Warner to be given the starting job. Nothing personal against Warner but after '07, Leinart was given every opportunity to just look ready to start. He didn't have to outplay Warner, Warner wasn't even given many snaps last preseason(17 attempts in 4 games for the 2nd string QB?).I think the only reason people might think he's a "project" is because he hasn't beaten out Warner
Leinart struggled against the 1's in all of the preseason games and had to be left in each game to come away with anything positive. Then in the third preseason game, which most people consider to be the closest the preseason gets to the real thing, he fell to pieces. Against Oakland! He wasn't being outplayed by Warner he was losing the job all on his own.
Now, I'm not saying all this to bash Leinart. But the truth is nowhere near the only reason Leinart isn't playing is because Warner is so good right now.
