Is it possible that drafting 4-7th round QBs is a coaching ego trip? The cupboard will be bare in 2-3 years at this rate.

Who really thinks BA will be here in 3 years? Seriously? He's said multiple times that his road will end with Palmer's. He's old and retiring soon. We are going for broke these next few years, will lose 10-14 games our first year without them and draft our hopeful franchise quarterback then IMO.

I don't ever remember hearing BA said that he is done when Palmer is done. Unless the team suffers an implosion I fully expect him here in 3 years.

The guy is up there but he is younger than Pete Carroll & Bill Belichick and nobody seems to think they are going to hang it up anytime soon.

I've never heard him say anything like this. This is his first HC shot and he has been very successful. I don't think he is going to hang it up quite yet. I think he will ride this thing out as long as it's fun. That may be when Palmer's done but we don't know that yet.

It should be interesting to see what BA&SK learned about the Logan Thomas scenario. What baffles me is why they made the trade for Matt Barkley. Not only did they cut LT to make room for MB---now they want to draft a new QB. And if they draft one, they can't cut him, right? Which means in two years they lose out on Thomas (4th Round pick), Barkley (4th Round pick) and a 7th round pick in the trade.

Quarterbacks, I tell ya, can't live with them, can't win without them.

Quarterbacks, and pass rushers, what are you going to do ?

They are expensive, they are risky, they usually do not pan out in the end.

I have a theory on Matt Barkley. First off, he is a third stringer, thus you have to take that into account. Second, we have to buy into the college/highschool football are not getting players NFL ready. Thus simple things like calling plays, managing the huddle, lining up players, and reading defenses are more important in the NFL than you would expect.

Logan Thomas seemed to have issues with basic NFL quarterback responsibilities. It is insane to think Ryan Lindley was physically, a better QB than Logan Thomas. So, what was it ? I am thinking it was the basic quarterback responsibilities. Something Matt Barkley, I am assuming, has.

A big arm and accuracy are keys for success, but you have to put yourself in the position to utilize those traits.

Thus the compensation to obtain QB's is always going to be extreme, but again, I find pass rushers to be in the same vein. There are plenty of edge rushers that the Cardinals have drafted, and they did not work out. Plenty of edge rushing free agents that they signed and didn't work out.

We gave up a 2nd round pick, and a young prospect for Kevin Kolb.

We gave up a 2nd round pick and a young prospect for Chandler Jones.

Is what it is.

Keim says he will churn the bottom of the roster, and he does it no matter the position. The only way to 100% guarantee that you won't have enough good QB's on your roster is by not trying to find them.

I thought I remembered BA saying he'd like to draft a low(er) round QB every year until he finds one that sticks. I have no problem with this philosophy. The chances of finding a keeper may be small but, for that position, I think it's worth it to keep cycling through potential candidates before it becomes an emergency. When it becomes urgent, then you need to either invest a high 1 or invest big in free agency or trade.
Sounds like Barkley got the 1 year try out and failed to impress. Time to throw another one against the wall.

Steve Keim said that when he was hired as GM. Its the Ron Wolf Philosophy he had with the Packers.

I can't quote everyone who responded but am I really the only one who remembers Arians saying when they traded for Palmer that the two of them were old and would ride into the sunset together?

BA made some quip on the spur of the moment when he was sitting in front of a bunch of reporters. Shocking. I really wouldn't put too much stock into that.

Fitz was the one who said that last week and also at the end of last season. Fitz will be going until Palmer retires.

No, I def 100,000,000% remember Arians saying it when we brought Palmer in.

I do recall BA saying something along those lines but I also recall him saying Levi was an elite LT. My point is BA likes to be clever and throw out quips but it doesn't mean he is dead set on retiring when Palmer does.

I think he is having way too much fun and isn't getting over worked because Michael has allowed him to hire 40 assistant coaches and BA knows how to delegate very well.

BA has also said he wants to create his own coaching tree and Bowles has gotten off to a good start but Goodwin and then Bethcher and then......still need to get HC jobs.

Bottom line is that if BA is having fun and feeling engaged with coaching he won't retire.

I agree with all of this. I'm not sure that Lynch gets to 29 but maybe Cook will and then hopefully someone is desperate enough to trade up for him. Thing is wouldn't they want to trade with the Chiefs or Packers if they believe we want a QB?

Just a hunch but there is no way in my opinion Elway would let Lynch get

to 29. He would jump us like he jumped Baltimore last year for Ray. I could

see Dallas wanting to jump the Browns or Broncos for Cook/Lynch.

I actually don't think the Bills or Jets or Browns let Lynch get to 29. Latest rumor I heard was that Lynch reminds Hue Jackson of Flacco who he coached in Baltimore.

I think the cowboys are in win now mode with the window closing on Romo and they are relieved they don't have to make a choice at the 4th overall pick on whether to take Goff or Wentz.

IMO The "Logan Thomas Syndrome" affects the fans more than any player. The devastating symptoms of "LTS" can be seen on this board alone almost daily.
