Last season, without Dave McGinnis, the Tennesse Titans' defense was ranked 12th in the NFL. This season, with Dave McGinnis, the Titans' defense is ranked 18th.

Last season, without Larry Marmie, the St. Louis Rams' defense was ranked 16th in the NFL. This season, with Larry Marmie, the Rams' defense is ranked 23rd.

All these guys needed was one more season in Arizona.

Keep this in mind as you bash Dennis Green's first season as head coach in Arizona.

I wasn't sure about Mac, but I knew Marmie was going to flop. Instead of revolving his system around the player, he revolves the players around his system. Just look at the way Adrian Wilson is playing under the new system. Look how much the D-Line has improved. I think Martz should help out his team and get rid of his friend.

The other thing i like about Green is that he'll show his disappointment and anger to the media and fans.Look at yesterday's press conference.Green states how he's disappointed with the season and things like that.If it was Mac we'd be hearing about how proud he was of his team to come back from a 28-3 deficit to the worst team in the NFL and how things are starting to look up.Of course with Mac in charge they would never have come back from 28-3 and we'd been looking at 45-6 final.

Isn't John Mackovic available.

He was a terrible head coach and knew nothing about defense but the guy could call some offensive plays.

I can just imagine him on the same sideline with Dennis Green. :D

Or half a hundred, that's what SF hung on us last year. *shudder*

I'm so glad those days are over...

I don't think that Tennesee's fall can be placed on McGinnis. Firstly, isn't he just the LB's coach, and consultant (or something like that). Secondly, hasn't Tenn. be decimated by FA, injuries, and age.

The Rams defense on the other hand has Marmie's fingerprints all over it!

Let's trade Alex Wood for Rick Neuheisel. Yeah, he's a shady dude but we don't have to worry about recruiting violations in the pros and I can't think of someone more qualified to take over. He was a better college coach than Willingham and a bunch of people around here were jumping on that offensive coordinator bandwagon.

And if the Cards hire Mackovic, I will turn in my season tickets and become a Chargers fan.

Right on Bro!!

DG will need two more years to weed out the losing attitude and build some talent. Next year....6 wins....Year after....Playoffs as a wild card.

Yes, he is just the LB's coach. And yes, TN has been annihilated with injuries all year long. Thats why they signed McAddley, they were getting killed at WR among other positions, so with McG's input, they signed Jason. Last night he recorded his first reception of the year worth measuring. They lost some to FA due to the fact that they have been capped out for years now. It was only a matter of time. Back to injuries, last night they had 9 starters out, and they lost 3 more during the game. It was horrible. But, Volek and Bennett both had career nights. Volek threw for 426 yds, and Bennett caught for 233 yds, the most by any receiver league wide this year. And, they were hosed by the refs at the end with the bogus phantom call that Laboy was flagged with a hit to the helmet when in fact he hit Green's shoulder. Titans would've won without that call. But, it gave the chefs new life, and the result was a go ahead TD. I just want one of my 2 teams to get to 5 wins

talk about a homer way of looking at things. If anything - that call helped you out - it actually gave you time to score again because the Chiefs (even without that call) had just picked up a first down on a Larry Johnson reception down to the 20 - at worst the Chiefs get held for a field goal - but the way your D was playing it didn't matter - that penalty just hastened the ensuing score and if you don't believe that - then you're folling yourself.

Titans D didn't play well cause it was mostly backups and alot of rookies in there. And the injury list did not improve as the game progressed.

Kansas City, 5-8, which won 13 games last season, was helped greatly by a phantom penalty, then got the winning points on a 9-yard touchdown catch by Eddie Kennison. Trent Green capped a 64-yard drive in just over a minute with his third touchdown pass.

One play earlier, referee Tom White called a personal foul on rookie Travis Laboy for a hit to Green's helmet. But Laboy clearly hit Green on the shoulder.

"I am disappointed in the performance of Tom White and the job he did officiating that game," said coach Jeff Fisher, who as co-chairman of the NFL competition committee rarely criticizes officials. "You've got to let players play."
This is absolutely no Homer's way of looking at a bogus costly penalty, Cheesy

The "blow to the head" penalty? That was one of the worst calls I've ever seen.

you're missing the point - the blow to the head penalty was a terrible call - BUT - the Chiefs had just gotten a first down at the 20 yard line - in field goal range - with a TO left and were moving the ball at will the entire game - so how can you say that ONE call made the Titans lose? At WORST KC kicks a field goal to tie it - but seeing as they couldn't even stop them for one more play - scoring immediately afetr the pentalty - I think it's incredibly homeristic to believe that somehow the Titans were either going to stop them, block the field goal or gotten a turnover - which is what they would have needed to WIN the ball game - as you so assuredly said would have happened without the bad call.

We seem to have a lot of post about McGinnins. Why not let us discuss Buddy or some of the other coaches that never got us anywhere. Better yet let us discuss the GM or the Owners who hire the coaches. Our problems date back to over 50 years of poor ownership and poor coaches. We actually had a few excellent coaches along the way who got p----- off with ownership, left and became super coaches. We also have had a number of players who did the same thing. It is not any curse gentlemen and it sure did not begin with McGinnins. You watch the Cards as long as I have (almost 60 years) and you get a little crazy sometimes. I am at a point I just hope we can get over .500 before my time on this earth is over and from what I have seen Green is not going to be able to do it.

I'm going to go even one step further, or rather step back even before that series. When the Titans got the turnover with 2 minutes and change left, and couldn't control the clock, and couldn't punch it in the endzone, when they had to settle for 3 on a night where Volek and Bennett were connecting almost at will, that was the difference. The Titans should've sealed the deal right there. But, they didn't. They kicked the go ahead FG, and gave the ball back to the chefs with a minute and a half remaining where the D allowed them to march right down the field. As far as the call goes, it was 2nd down, not 1st like you said. It put them closer to the endzone than they should've been. Than the fatal TD was scored immediately afterward. Regardless, it was still a great game, and Volek woke up all who watched it!!!
