Slimani is a good get. A true number 9.

Well, what a day it's been (and what a day it'll end up, too, I'm sure). Kenedy is electric. Hit the post, won a penalty (thanks a LOT, Joselu, you effing suckwad!), and put in the corner that Lascelles smashed home. Of course, useless Joselu cost us the victory twice over, missing the penalty and missing a gimme late, so of course Burnley scored an 85th-minute equalizer. Still an important point, but JESUS JOSELU!!!

Sounds like the Mags have reinforcements coming in, but I'm not jinxing ANYTHING!

Possibly the best thing I've seen all day is the sign setup before the game at SJP. Classy, classy fan gesture.

Wow. Awesome, and it even digs in the ownership subtly.

Brighton signed a few striker options, but nothing that jumps out at you. I feel like we're a very good bet to go down.

I've heard others say the same about them, Huddersfield, and West Brom in particular. Oh, and Newcastle, too. I THINK the Mags did enough to stay up, between Kenedy and Slimani, but it's a razor margin. Huge measuring stick against Palace away this Sunday.

Oh, trust me, it's HORRIFIC for Newcastle. The relegation squad has added Kenedy on loan. That's IT. He should help a bit in defense and on the wing, but the #1 problem is a STRIKER. Jabba the Ashley was said to have 'sanctioned a club-record fee' for a top striker. What a ******* joke. One week on and two absolutely derisory (and non-record breaking) bids later, they were given a 6pm Monday deadline to sign Jorgenson from Feyenoord. Failed. The Ashley PR machine strikes again!

They lost Sturridge to ALAN ******* PARDEW and West Brom at the last second--because the kid has family in Birmingham. Alan ******* Pardew, a craptastic coach, on a relegation rival, stole a striker, OUR MOST DESPERATE NEED, out from under us. Not only could that see Newcastle relegated, it is a massive punch to the collective fan base's nuts.

The only other two deals that even sound remotely possible is a loan for that failed Man City center back (WTF kind of deal is that? NOT the area of need!) and a deal for some Eastern-European keeper I've never heard of. NEITHER are positions of great need; we have CBs, and Elliot and Darlow are adequate for purposes. While it would be nice to send Woodman out on loan to help him develop, he can sit his ass on the bench and provide 3rd-string cover for them. The relegation fight comes first, above everything else. Who gives a damn that we lost to Chelsea in the FA cup? It's no surprise, we didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning it, and it saves this paper-thin Championship squad having to play extra games.

With what the teams around them in the table are doing, and the absolute shambles Newcastle are at scoring goals, if Jabba the Asshat Ashley doesn't open the ********* pocket book in the next few days, Newcastle will 100 ******* percent be back in the Championship next season. Because, if Kenedy is the only incoming in January, and if we don't get a decent striker in, Benitez is ******* GONE. And who in the hell would blame him?

Jabba the Ashley promised backing, after winning the Championship, that Benitez would get every penny of profit generated. He walked before a TV camera and made the verbal promise LIVE. He just can't ******* help himself from being a big fat liar, in the limelight, no less (and the British press ignore it completely, or lap up his ********--EVERY TIME). We've thus far, in TWO windows, had a net spend of 17 million. SEVENTEEN ******* MILLION!!!

LIES, ******* LIES!!! And now his lies and parsimony are going to **** up any hope of a sale, because who wants to buy a Championship team for 350 million pounds?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE DO NOT ******* DESERVE THIS ********* ******* ********!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think many share in your frustration. Their match is on sky tomorrow. I anticipate a good one!

Newcastle a tad lucky to get away with a point. Shelvey made a clear penalty late in the box, much worse than the first one that was given. Zaha gave Yedlin and Ritchie major fits, but no other palace player seemed able to score without a penalty.

Yeah, lucky to escape with a point. I'll take it. I'd also chew my arm off to get a point against Man U.

For sure. More poor officiating in that game too. Zaha and Benteke missed some of the easiest chances they will see all year.

Still no Slimani from the thigh injury. Thanks, Jabba the Ashley, for backing us so much when we were depserately in need of a striker. Thanks for bringing in an injured striker, ON LOAN, and...nothing else at the position. Way to back your manager in this relegation fight. Now Gayle is still starting and Joselu is our only other option on the bench. Against Man U. Thanks, you fat f*!k up.

Big upset today. Good goalkeeping and good defending. I thought Newcastle started very promising as well. Shelvey had a nice game. Not sure what the issue was with pogba. Don’t know if he was faking an injury to take a day off or if he was really hurt then why play.

ENORMOUS victory, and a HUGE 3 points. Newcastle leap up 6 places from that win. The refs were incredibly poor in the 1st half and seemed to be trying to cost Newcastle points. I was almost certain we would lose after that--teams in the bottom of the table NEED the dead-certain penalty calls to go their way--but the refs were better in the 2nd half (save for the red card foul that produced NO card), and Newcastle snatched a deserved 3 points.

Mourinho STILL has not won at SJP, in (I think) 10 tries now.

Your victory and our win brought us within 2 points of Man U. Closing in on 2nd.

Yep, and by the end, Newcastle shouldn't have had anything at all.

This one falls squarely on Benitez's shoulders. He coached like a scared little school girl and absolutely invited Bournemouth into a comeback. Bournemouth had nothing going--nothing at all. Game is drawing down. He brings in Hayden, which, okay, fair enough, a defensive sub. But he took off Gayle, the double scorer, leaving on only Perez in an advanced role. I get it--Perez is a bit better defensively, but it left Newcastle toothless in attack.

Bournemouth press, score, and the final sub must be Murphy, because the Cherries are ripe to be picked on the counter, and surely you can't turtle more under that kind of pressure--that's just BEGGING to be beaten. Instead Benitez takes off ANOTHER advanced player for Manquillo.

I knew then that Newcastle weren't winning. At that point, I prayed they would salvage a draw. They shouldn't have--Bournemouth were rampant at the end. No, let me rephrase that--Newcastle LET Bournemouth become rampant.

Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic from Benitez. Coaching like that, you're telling your team (who to that point hadn't been troubled) that you have no faith in them, that you have to change your whole setup to cling to a 2-goal lead. Absolutely drained confidence and aggression from the side, drained morale and cost the team a crucial 2 points.

Newcastle win there, I think there's no doubt they stay up. Now? Only 2 points above the drop zone. and not even to 30 points yet. Big, big problems now.

It is going to be a fascinating end of the season with the bottom half of the table.. I think it stays very tight - West Brom might fall into oblivion, but I think the other two spots go right down to the wire. I think you hit the last 2 weeks with 8 to 10 teams in jeopardy and a whole lot of nervous fans and teams. Brighton are looking good today, but have a very tough ending slate where points will be tough to come by.

I don't think that many will be in jeopardy--more like 5-6 teams fighting to stay out of the last 2 spots. A few teams today began to separate a bit--unfortunately Newcastle weren't one of them. Much like Sunderland last season, just stick a fork in West Brom, so iMO there are 2 other teams going down.

Dunno if that many teams can get that much separation, but we will see. 3 of Brighton's last 4 are against Big 6. Even if we are like 8 points clear with 4 to play, it won't be a slam dunk. I think things stay tight.

HUUUUGE relegation 6-pointer today. A point is a must; 3 points is really what Newcastle need to get here if they want to assure survival without going to the very, nitty-gritty end. I'm incredibly nervous, but truly relieved that Shelvey is playing. No doubt, if they weren't in this situation, and if it weren't a relegation 6-pointer, Shelvey wouldn't even be on the bench with his myriad injuries. Good, tough player with the right mentality atm.

MASSIVE win. Absolutely massive. It says a lot about how shell-shocked Newcastle fans have become this season that I wasn't confident that the win was in the bag with a 3-goal lead until about the 85th minute lol

Yeah, West Ham might just go down. Ugly, ugly scenes there. When the security staff let a guy steal the corner flag, plant it in the center circle, and muck around a bit before they even try to get him, you know the rot runs deep.

BHA had a howler today. Huddersfield can't score against 10-men Swansea. If Chelsea top Palace, it will have been about the perfect day for me :)

Sorry, I know you like BHA. I do too, but for now, survival for Newcastle is top priority.

Good win for Newcastle against Southampton. It is a massive victory. For West Ham this was brewing for a while. But the fans are losing it. I hope they get relegated.

So do I, now, especially after Hislop's recent idiotic comments. I used to love West Ham. They had great colors and a cool sponsor at the time: Dr. Martens. Now? I'd love to see them drop.

Was not expecting a win at Everton, and really no harm no foul with the other results of the day. I hope all 3 promoted clubs stay up... and Palace going down would be great too.
