It was ugly. We were outplayed by Blackburn, for goodness sake. The ref was absolutely horrendous, giving them an undeserved penalty, rewarding dives, and just getting a lot terribly wrong. We were missing a lot of our top players, and it really showed. Perch came on in the 2nd and at least helped plug the bleeding. Still and all, Blackburn had no final touch, and we managed a cheap OG against them. I will TAKE it. Arsenal in a shock draw with Bolton, and damn, but Chelsea managed a last-gasp draw with Swansea. 5th in the table, baby!!! And this weekend, we have Demba Ba AND Papisse Demba Cisse in the lineup. Look out!

Unfortunately it wasn't that shocking. Outside of RVP, nobody can finish. Even when they scored 3 on Saturday, 2 were penalties taken by RVP and the other was a fluke bounce off of Walcott's shoulder.

Couldn't comment on the game before now, as I was violently ill and actually hadn't watched it yet. Thank goodness for DVR!!! Anyway, what an excellent win against Villa. Cisse shows his quality on an impressive, cracking goal that proves to be the winner. 4th place temporarily, and keeping us in the European hunt.

Wow. What placement on his goal. I don't think two goalkeepers could have saved that ball.

No joke. I don't think any keeper has a shot at that ball. Love bringing him in. For what he looks like he can provide, he was a bargain at 10 mill. Also, have to love that Redknapp got off in court. That means he'll probably be the next England manager, and they can stop sniffing around Pardew.

Hell, down 2-0 after 5!!! That was depressing. That is what happens when your top-notch midfield is missing and you're playing against a top side. At least in the beginning. The route followed. Ugh.

Oh well. Have to just write it off and move forward. I was hopeful but half expecting a loss anyway. We aren't going to win any ties on goal differential either, so this loss isn't nearly as bad as it seems.

Really tough draw to bear, given that they're in such turmoil and the other 4-spot contenders all won. We were kicking their tails and up 2-0, and it was like our team thought the game was already won. By the time we got our heads back in the game and started controlling again, it was 2-2 and time was running out. Inexcusable, absolutely inexcusable. At least it means we'll be mean and angry so we can romp the kittens.

I have the fear big time for Sunday mate.

I read a stat yesterday that said for SAFC fans under 40 they have seen us be relegated more time than we have beaten the Mags. Absolutely shocking record. And there is a team in the country with a worse derby day record i will be amazed.

Groovy! For you lot, I think you'd have rather we won last week, because we will be howling for blood after last week's performance. I'm not sure which is better or worse for us, you lot getting hammered last week. This is your first real test under your new manager. Should be an interesting game. Who is the home team?

You mean besides playing Arsenal twice, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City?

The match is at Sports Direct Arena :D

That's not what I meant by a test. I don't mean anything about Newcastle at all. This will be the first time you're tested in a match after getting thoroughly thrashed.

And ugh, don't mention 'Sports Direct Arena' ever again :(

Okay, I see what you meant. Yeah, it will be interesting to see how the Black Cats respond after the WBA debacle.

Hopefully with a repeat performance ;) I could go for a 5-1 scoreline with a home victory...hmm, I had a strange feeling of deja vu typing that :D

Gutted by the result. Really deserved a draw, with our defensive organization and work rate. Still and all, the way our team fought against a really hot team away in London has to raise the spirits for the rest of the season.

Oh, and RVP is still a little bitch douchebag. Even Wenger was quoted as happy he stayed on. Sure, both he and Krul got into it, that war of words, and the confrontation. The way the 'captain' stepped back and continued mocking, both verbally and physically, was just classless and stupid. He is a captain only because of his goalscoring ability--he is NO leader, that is for sure. Will make for an interesting Dutch squad at the Euros.

Fantastic win. I feel no sympathy for Carroll, and he deserves every bit he got. Local boy with plenty of money that fled for money an now sucks. He was nowhere near prepared enough for the pressure and he has collapsed. And oh, the sweet revenge on Enrique, the little girl swearing we'd never be a top six team again as he fled. Well Jose, we're top 6...y tu?

Carroll is such a disappointment. More than Torres at Chelsea even. He flat out sucks. Even when Torres doesn't score, he creates opportunities for others.

And the sad thing is that he was dominant at Newcastle. The problem is, when you take that much money, force a move like that, and go to a high-pressure club, that creates a ton of pressure, pressure of a different kind. He was able to handle the pressure in Newcastle because he was the hometown kid turned Geordie hero. Clearly he can't handle the pressure in Liverpool.

Being a successful striker, for those with the talent, is all about the confidence. That's what's haunted Carroll and Torres. Torres may have gotten himself out of the funk now, but what a funk it was!
